What a problem Kenny has in picking the team. It's the squad that makes the team better. If players are competiting with each other for positions in training it drives them on to perform at a higher level. We've now got at least 2 for every position. Maybe not two equals but two all the same.

I think the only guaranteed starters tomorrow given injuries, late returns and signings are:

Personally I'd be surprised if Lucas doesn't start despite the long trip. Johnson will play at right back if fit, if not Kelly will play there. I would imagine Aurelio will start at left back because Enrique has only just signed and can't really have done much training with the lads, so I'd imagine he could be on the bench. That just leaves the 3rd midfielder/2nd attacker, who that is will depend on the system we play. I think Henderson might play against his former club, and that Suarez will be on the bench after his late return from the Copa America

How do you pick the subs??? I've gone for the ones in bold. Leaving Meireles out was a tough decision and based on him missing preseason and Alberto stading out when he played. Leaving Flano out too was hard, but Kelly can cover 2 or 3 positions.

Can't see any future for Cole at all. I don't think anybody in here would choose him in the 16 man squad, never mind Kenny.

Mind you, he did blame the "dip" in form on becoming a new dad. His kid's a year older now, so maybe he'll get some sleep and stop looking like a trialist for the school team in the open sessions for kids that weren't good at PE.

I'd imagine that the 11 we have put together plus the subs in bold (although I think the last spot is a choice between Aquilani and Meireles) will be the match day squad.

I think that Flanagan and Robinson will be left out but they have futures at the club, as do Shelvey and Wilson although I suspect any of these 4 could be loaned out if the right offer comes along, Kyriakos will miss out when or other defenders are fit, I think that's something he'll have to accept, (although thinking about it he might be on the bench in place of one of the fullbacks tomorrow probably Enrique, given the question marks over Johnson). The others may be involved but I suspect we'd get rid of most of them given the chance.

We have a big squad now and this means that players will have to fight for their places, hopefully this will be a good thing.
