Game of two halves, first half great second half awful.

It was typical Liverpool not getting the goals when we were on top, first half we were awesome, some great one and two pass stuff and we looked like we could have won the game comfortably.

We looked to lack fitness and ideas towards the end of the game.

Adam and Downing did well, first half particularly but waned as the game went on.

Henderson did ok

Enrique did ok too, what worried me though was how often he went long to Carroll.

Suarez was great first half and had Sunderland running scared, but I don't know why we had him taking penalties. Surely it should have been Adam.

Flanagan's inexperience showed in the second half, this is the problem with relying on young defenders, they are prone to make mistakes, but he's still a good prospect, this shows you have to be careful with him. Persoanlly I would have gone with Kelly but he's also inexperienced.

Other than the mistake Flannagan made for the goal, he was pretty woeful in everything he did. Nowhere near ready for the first time. He gave the ball away countless times.

Carra needs it drilling into his head to stop the long balls up to carroll and if he is doing as a result of fatigue then he needs replaceing. I cringe when he has the ball as you just know he will pump it up right up the field.

Lots of new players = when you're up against it they will look disjointed.

First half lots of positives but second half awful.

The worst thing is you can't ever get those two points back. Unless we go on to win the damn thing they are dropped points.

Suarez doesn't look fit, and why did he take the pen? The fouled player should never take the pen.

Lucas should have come off for Spearing as he did jack second half. Perhaps the players put too much effort in first half and paid for it the second.

Flanagan will learn a lot from that game, he will make mistakes, I still feel he'll become a brilliant fullback.

We'll be alright, but just may take a little time to get going properly. Not slit your wrist times but bloody disappointing. Feel totally deflated.

I still think we need TWO attacking forwards, one with skill and the other a proper goalscorer. As we have seen take Suarez off and for all his effort Dirk is hardly a game changer. Need some more options or we could struggle.

I fancy us to beat Arsenal.

A mixed bad, but ultimately a poor second half and a bad result. He's young and has a long way to go so I don't want to dig him out, but Flano did not do himself justice today. He gets no more than 3 out of 10 for me. In the first half we were better but I never really felt Sunderland were out of it TBH. Meathead Bruce has a habit of getting results against us and I ****ing hate the cunt for it. Ultimately, it was a spark of creativity that we lacked and we paid for that.

On the positive side, Carrol looked good, Suarez caused them problems, Adam was OK in his role and Downing must have gone some way to silence his critics. There's a long way to go and we can build from this, although I must say I do feel a little flat right now

We threw that away, should have been wrapped up in first half. We looked bolloxed in teh second half, Downing,Adam & Lucas disappeared. Flanagan clearly is not ready, why on earth Kelly didn't start or at least come on in the second half i don't know.

Perfect time for us to get the 3 points in our first game at Anfield and show a sign of intent, get the good vibes going but alas same old same old. Shocking delivery to Carroll all game, he was isolated and Brown (was immense)had him in his pocket.

Carra looked ropey, thought Enrique looked decent, although his passing wasn't great. All in all a very meh performance and IMO a really bad result, regardless if it's the first game of the season. Early doors but dissapointing.

Also I'd have prefered to see Aquilani on the bench instead on Meireles, I know he's probably on his way, but when Suarez came off we could have done with someone like him playing in an advanced midfield role.
