Even though there were quite a lot of positives Downings performances despite going missing badly particularly in the second half. Is anyone else worried about how horrendously one footed he is? Sure I'm not saying he needs to be perfectly both footed, but his right foot looks absolutely non-existent. A bit of a limitation. At times when he got the ball on the right he was reminding me a bit of a reflection of Babel.

Anyhow, it went absolutely nuts when Meireles scored a volley. It's a bit of a laugh, most of those guys being Aussies and probably couldn't even tell you what the stands are called. From what I remember things got pretty aggressive towards the end of the night around 4/5am

It doesn't matter which one of our players was of form or made a mistake, we lost the points because of the that comic of a referee, Dowd...got all the big calls wrong today! Had he sent off Richardson, there's no way Sunderland would have contained that football from us in 1st half with 10 men as we would have scored more...Carroll's goal should have stood too.
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

Fat f*ck. Should have been red simple as that. The FA need to start punishing that sort of decision making by sending these guys down to the lower divisions. Attrocious decision.

Think Downing switched wings regularly and with some success at Villa but seeing Kuyt on the left in the second half just didn't seem right.

I haven't bothered reading this thread. No offence intended. So sorry if someone has made this point. We looked knackered second half.

Why in the name of feck were we giving time in pre season to so many no hopers and not concentrating on getting our first teamers super fit?

And don't give me that shop window crap.

                  (9) While Lucas has improved immeasurably in the last year, he still gives away too many silly fouls. Curb that and he can be first choice in his position for years.

                  Yawn.

Lucas gave away a whopping two fouls, both in the centre of the park according to the Guardian. Criminal for a defensive midfielder. That's the same as Downing, Carroll and Flanagan and 4 (yes 4) less than his midfield partner.

I pray to God that he doesn't have two consecutive poor halves for the first time in 2/3 years as it appears that some of the knives are starting to get sharpened again.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
