Enrique is unbelievable. Suarez should've played entire game as even at 50% he's our only goal threat.

Good game by Lucas, Downing, Kelly and Agger.

Need to buy one more striker.
I don't believe he should of. We have beaten one of the 'top' four with him playing a very small part in the game which helps with his fitness/tiredness following the Copa America.

Agree with you on the needing to buy one more striker.

What a ****ing joke that match thread is by the way. Away at the Emirates and RVP, Walcott and Arshavin hardly got a touch all game, yet all some people did was moan how crap we were.

Lucas makes 4 or 5 excellent tackles, not a mention. First one he misses, some people are all over it, plus subsequent mistakes. Did he get a mention for his role in the second? Of course not.

we wore them down and suarez ripped them a new one like i said he would

I like Downing. The lad lacks a bit of pace but his positivity is fantastic, he's direct and isn't afraid to shoot from distance and he keeps the ball well. He'll be a great asset to us. I have to say that Adam is looking a brilliant signing as well, he's looking every inch a Liverpool player with his quick passing and vision.
        Are we winning?

If we could get Cahill and put him in the first eleven:

Kelly Cahill Agger Enrique, looks a very solid backline

We should have did teh same against Sunderland, although i suppose we ahould have had it wrapped up by half time anyway.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

You can't complain about the result but there is a ****load of work to be done. It's early in the season but I'm concerned about a number of things. Enrique looks class though, if he keeps this up it'll be the bargain of the summer. The red card was pivotal though, I'm not sure if we would've won otherwise.

I don't want to write him off, but the more I see of Carroll, the more I can't see him being a successful player for us. I don't like what he does and I don't like the kind of football we tend to lean towards with him in the team. As I say I'm not writing him off and I hope he proves me wrong but let me put it this way; if there was a 20-25m bid for him I'd hope the club would accept it. Vermeulen a guy who is atleast 6 inches shorter than him gave had the better of him in the air too. Don't get me wrong he's a quality defender but I don't think that Carroll is a good stylistic fit and it's showing.

Downing is okay, but he disappears all the time. Sometimes it's hard to believe he's on the pitch. He's a great striker of the ball, but horribly one footed. Henderson was pretty invisible too, he did some decent work but couldn't really impose himself on the game and when he got the ball he was pretty disappointing.

As I say it's early days but one of the things that scares me is that we're wanting players who come from lesser teams, in some cases lesser divisions in the shape of Carroll, Adam, Downing, Henderson etc to make up the front half of our team. Especially because apart from Downing it's not even like they have had a whole lot of Premiership experience.

That said early days, a bit of luck but a good win. Happy Suarez got a bit of a rest but has to start just about every important game or else I think we're going to be pretty flat. Would like to see more of Meireles too despite me not being his fan. Also hope to see some of Maxi and Aquilani in the future because we're screaming for some more intelligent players in those positions especially ones that can hold onto the ball under pressure and knock it into space. Some may say that Aquilani isn't a tactical fit, but surely if he got a game he wouldn't be worse than Henderson was today for example.

Suarez, even though he scored and made the other goal, you could he wasn't fit enough for 90 minutes.

                  Kenny did the right thing.

I actually think his pace is deceptive and he's faster than you think.

Gary Neville What a ****, trying to say that Arsenal was unlucky.

Anyway, Suarez's movement won us the match for the two goals, he's fantastic.

I still have faith in him even though loads on here don't seem to rate him.
I think when people talk about 'different' types of players so they can't be compared is PISS POOR!!!!

They are both forwards and SHOULD move well off the ball and have a good first touch, whether they are leading the line or drop deep. Carroll was technically poor today IMO and had a mediocre game at best.

I'm judging him off today's game and we'll see what happens with him ling term.

                              Thoughts on todays game:

+ Enrique was absolute class. If he keeps this up he's going to be a fantastic signing for us.
+ Kelly was excellent as well. He's quite a bit ahead of Flano in terms of his development, and should definitely be ahead of him in the pecking order imo.
+ Suarez showed how good he is once again. As Cream said in the match thread, 'he makes **** happen.' What a player. I really can't wait to see him and Gerrard link up.
+ I felt Henderson had a solid game for us, and was more progressive than he was last week. Kept possession well.
+ Defensively we looked extremely solid, which is a relief after pre-season.

                              - Carroll was poor. He does look extremely fit though. I think he will benefit from getting a couple of goals, and the rest of the team clicking into gear.
                              - We don't look half the team without Suarez. Having spent 50 million this summer, that's something of a concern. If N'gog goes, I'd like to see us bring in someone who can compete with Carroll and Suarez (and arguably Kuyt) for a spot in the first team.

Early days. Glad we got the win despite us not really playing that well. Hopefully we can use this result to build some momentum now.

After seeing Enrique at Anfield last season I did have my doubts as he seemed as though he really did only have a left foot but credit where credit is due, he's looking good so far.
