in the same way that fergiescum is stuck playing de gea (if you drop him so early in his career with all the added pressure and expectation you could seriously damage his confidence enough to affect him for the rest of his career) i think kenny simply has to stick with henderson giving the price paid.

im not against henderson playing this game cause i think given a fair crack he will prove the doubters wrong, but regardless, given bolton still have an element of being a hard tackling team id stick kyut in there as it suits him better:

    pepe

    kelly
    carra
    agger
    enrique

    kyut
    adam
    spearing
    downing

    suarez
    carroll

id put lucas on the bench cause he looked absoloutely ****ed in his last game and even though brazil went out early i think its the copa america been too much for him after his exertions for us last year. spearing could do a job in his place IMO.
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

I expect us to go with:

      --------------Reina-------------
      Kelly--Carragher--Agger--Enrique
      Kuyt-----Lucas--Adam---Downing
      ----------Suarez Carroll--------

For me the only question mark is whether it's Henderson or Kuyt on the right, I think we might go with Kuyt as he's had a rest in mid-week.

I don't see Carroll being dropped as some are suggesting

I've read so many different views from last nights game that i feel i need to reassess my life and go back and watch it again

Understand some of the comments towards Henderson and Carroll - but can't understand any of the real negativity.

We a 'new' side, young, plenty of potential, couple of stars, plenty of raw talent, decent experience, giving us a good squad mix...maybe need one or two more players (this sebastion coates and a good striker would be nice), we have a manager that we all love! and we have pretty decent owners so far who have been humble, quiet, and backed the club pretty well.

It's almost as if....after years of aiming frustration at houiller, benitez, hodgson, hicks and gillette.....We've got noone to slag off now so we really getting stuck into a couple of youngsters

the only 'critiscism' i can really see to be aimed at carroll and henderson, is the money paid for them seems a bit too much - But....had we not signed them...and say Arsenal and Spurs signed them....we'd be going "****s sake...couple of young english talent, coming through, loads of potential, and we miss out cause we weren't prepared to pay a few extra million than they're worth"

        Anyway....

        Bolton -

        ----------------------reina--------------

        kelly-----------carra-------agger---------enrique

        -----------------lucas------adam--------------

        Maxi-----------------kuyt-------------downing

        ----------------------suarez-------------------

Good side...plenty of movement pace and passing ability - hopefully will click together early on, and be too much for bolton

I've dropped Henderson and Carroll cause they're ****
So, in essence, you agree with my team. You know a simple would have sufficed
        * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

It really is. We arent Barcelona so theres still areas to work on and its fine saying so but some people cant/wont even enjoy a win away to Arsenal!

You could go through our squad now and not see one bad player in there whereas last season it was filled with Ngog, Cole, Poulsen, Jovanovic etc, we've got loads of young players who are still improving, we've got an excellent manager, won 2 from 3 and drawn one, the draw was a refereeing disgrace anyway, all this without Steven Gerrard and some are just utterly miserable. Could some money have been spent better? Maybe but then every single club in world football can say the same anyway!

            Weird!

Perhaps bullied is the wrong word, but I think despite his tenacity, that he would just get muscled off the ball. I'm not completely against it (if Carroll is injured), but with him running the channels, we would need a little more creativity behind him which would be Downing and to an extent Maxi. With Meireles injured and Aqualani off, it leaves us a little light in that position.

With Carroll as the focal point, it would allow Suarez to be the creative influence *alongside* Maxi and Downing. I can see your point about Lucas and if he's fit, he's an automatic first choice - but as The Rev Leeroy Brown has said - Spearing would be more than an adequate alternative.

I'm the same with Enrique though, I'm looking really forward to seeing him and Downing link up down that left flank - it's been a really long time since that whole left side has looked decent.

Whatever else happens I just hope if Downing plays he stays wide left. It's really starting to piss me off the way he seems to start on the left then switch to the right and cut in all the time.

I thought Downing has had some of his best moments for us cutting in from the right.

It doesn't piss me off, but I agree to an extent. I would like him to stay on the left - not just to keep Kuyt on the right - but to make the most of his left foot.

Yes, mix-it-up if you're not having much look against the full-back, but don't roam from left, to right, to centre, back to the left every 20 minutes.

He's had a few good moments cutting in from the right but seems to get mugged out of the ball more often than not. Plus when he does that it means we also have a right footer cutting in from the left which narrows our play tremendously. I'd like to see him play a game where for 80% of it he stays wide left and gives their right back a mare.

He should really stay on the left, where he can get to the line and cross - defending a cross facing your own goal is much harder than when you've got your back to your own goal.

And plus, he cant really cross very well with his right foot, so when he plays wide right, he HAS to cut inside - too predictable.

However, I think we need to get Carroll fired up and going in to aerial challenges with a bit of conviction. Suarez leading the line would leave us a little light up front and for us to be potentially bullied - we'd be heavily reliant on Kuyt supporting him, maybe exposing Kelly on the right.
If Carragher's in the team he'll lump it long whoever's up front. He was doing it long before we'd ever heard of Carroll and he'll always do it until he retires. His only other ball is to turn round and pass it back to Reina

Or that after years of frustration under that lot too many people have just got used to being moaning *******s and can't snap out of it now that things are looking up...

I'd go with the team of the original poster, and expect us to win a pretty tight game.

                            ------------- Reina
                            Kelly -- Carragher -- Agger -- Enrique

                            ------------- Carroll

I think he should continue to mix things up by switching from left to right and vice versa.

Imo he's much more dangerous and difficult to contain that way.
