I think getting ourselves in situations where opposition defenders find themselves facing goal is something we haven't done enough of generally for some time. I can see it coming though...
I see where you're coming from. I phrased it badly, reaching the goal line isnt crucial, but the theory is, if you're crossing from deeper, it's unlikely that you'd be crossing from a point where you're ahead of the defensive line, if that makes sense?

So the higher up the field you're crossing from, obviously depending on other things too, the more likely you generally are to put in a cross that the defenders will need to deal with whilst facing their own goal (and, potentially, while 'on the run' as opposed to from a stationary and 'ready' position).

Me too!! Carroll's goal was legitimate. We were robbed Though, in all fairness, the draw was probably the right result.

I can see why put it that way now.

The training pics show how happy a place it is now with Kenny and the coaching staff running the show doesn't it!

Liverpool FC's Pepe Reina is 'best goalkeeper in Premier League'

Kenny Dalglish has warned Bolton that they will be facing the Premier League's best goalkeeper when they take on Liverpool tomorrow.

According to the Reds manager, Pepe Reina is unrivalled as the league's top stopper.

Liverpool's good start to the new campaign has been attributed to an increased squad depth, primarily in forward roles thanks to an abundance of midfield additions in the close season.

But Dalglish has been quick to also highlight the quality within his defensive ranks also.

Last season, Reina kept 14 clean sheets in a Reds career that has already seen him mentioned in the same breath as legendary 'keepers Ray Clemence and Bruce Grobbelaar.

And the Kop boss believes that the Spaniard's exploits make him the best between the sticks.

He said: "The squad this year, I think, is stronger than the one we had last year.

"And that's in every department, so obviously going forward is part and parcel of that.

"You're not going to win too many games if you don't score goals.

"That's an important part of the squad to make sure you've got enough people up front that's going to get you goals.

"But also equally important to make sure you don't lose any, and I think our goalkeeper is the best goalkeeper in the Premiership without a shadow of a doubt.

"So we've got a good start defensively and we've also got not bad fire power up front either."

Despite his boast about Reina, Dalglish is also aware of the threat Owen Coyle's side pose.

The Whites' opening league fixtures have been littered with goals, with a 4-0 drubbing of newly-promoted Queens Park Rangers followed by a narrow 3-2 defeat to Manchester City.

"They're not going to go away. They don't know when they're beaten," he added.

"We're going to have a difficult game but hopefully they'll be looking forward every bit as much to beating us as we will beating them, so we know what to expect.

"We know that they'll be difficult. It's up to us to overcome it. We're at home. The onus is on us to take it to them so we'll try our best to do that."

Liverpool today confirmed that Raul Meireles will be sidelined for a maximum of a fortnight with the collarbone injury sustained during Wednesday's Carling Cup win over Exeter City.

I think Bolton will come to play which should make it an exciting open game.

Just hope we can keep Davies quiet.

                            This.

I like these Saturday early evening kick-offs too, especially when I'm heading out for drinks afterwards.
