The point about more than 60k seats is we already have planning permission for 60k and the council have made public transport infrastructure improvements our responsibility if we want to go above that figure. That's why 60k is constantly mentioned by those at the top of the club. Anything more cost too much to be feasible as things stand.
For me we'll get a naming rights partner, then build a 60k stadium with room to expand in years to come when public transport can keep upLast edited by G; 27-08-11, 01:40 PM.

It's not just a case of finding extra money to build the additional capacity above 60,000, we'd be on the hook to provide the infrastructure to handle the increased volume. That's why the Hicks/Gillett plan was a two-stage flexible design: Start work on the '60,000' stadium, and during construction, submit a further planning application for the additional 13,000 seats and attendant infrastructure upgrades.
On the groundshare front his tone is a bit worrying; I'd prefer a simple "no chance, mate", rather than "It would be helpful to both clubs".
Also no word on whether any new stadium would be the Hicks ego trip or a new design.
