What is the squad missing ?

I think we can all agree that we've now got a balanced, hungry, young squad capable of finishing in the top four.

The big overhaul is complete, so in Jan/next summer what do you expect to happen ?

I think we still need...

1) A pacey, potentially world class attacking wide player/forward. Hazard ?

2) A top class dominant, box-to-box central midfielder to replace Steven Gerrard.

A replacement for Agger who isn't made of biscuits. This season is his last to prove his long term fitness IMO.

That's the one move this summer that I'm really disappointed about to be honest. I never thought we'd sign Aguero, but I really thought we'd have been in with a chance on Mata.

Agree with the Mascherano-type player and also a game changer similar to Suarez.

A proper nr. 10 and a forward maybe. Still undecided about a new CB, the next few weeks will show which of our current players we can rely on.

On a side note, I'm positive Spearing is a good understudy for Lucas.

I also think come next summer we'll be looking for another centre back either signing one or for one of the youngsters to push on in their development.

That said I'm happy with our squad at the moment, but if we make the CL we'd need to strengthen these areas

this is what we'll be doing moving forwards hopefully - add 1 or 2 real quality players each window as the squad is now there for a number of years - basically what Manure have done over the past ten odd years.

Not sure what we're missing at the moment, we'll see by the end of Oct I think what we're missing.

I think time will tell. We look pretty well covered in most departments right now. The biggest concern for me is the lack of spark when Suarez is out. So I would like to see another world class wide forward brought in - Hazard would be absolutely perfect. Affelay would be a cheaper, more realistic (albeit less good) option.

I'm quite happy with Jay as a backup to Lucas, I think he showed enough towards the end of last season to at least be given a chance

Pefect window for me.......And looking at the squad the next players coming in now have to be absolutely top draw.

Yup we're good at the moment and improved massivley...but if i wanted to be really greedy - we could do with adding one or two top players to really take it up to title winners - i'd go with

Jan
Pacy/creative right mid - Eden Hazard

Summer
A big strong midfield destroyer to upgrade on spearing - ???
an upgrade on Bellamy - Pato/Benzema


And - assess the Gerrard/Carragher situation after the season - if they are both sound, fit and capable then great - we'd be laughing.



*this is all on the assumption that the players we currently have continue to settle and improve game by game and stay fit (ie non flop spectularly) and also we don't sell anyone!!! But footballs a funny game - who knows, we might have a different set of priorities in 12 months?
