Have no problem with a leaflet campaign to get some of the fans motivated that little bit more. But id hardly call it a superb post.Originally posted by alunevansThat post is superb!
The leaflet campaign is a great example too.
But the worst offence for me is being in the Kop and not singing. The phones and the cameras annoys the hell out of me, as does two tossers sat behind you talking about work and stock orders and deadlines and ****e while I'm trying to focus on the match.
But the worst offence is to sit in the Kop and keep yer gob shut.
We're outsung most weeks by a couple of hundred tossers who then sing "worst support we've ever seen".
Great post and well timed.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Really i think the point that the origional poster may be trying to make, but only makes it in the title and not the post is that the kop should be passionate supporters only that are willing to sing. Thats fair enough, but the point should be followed up in the post and not just the title.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:

For me what he's trying to say is keep the day trippers/OOTer's, whatever you want to call them, out of the KOP and leave it to the hardcore. Some of us can only get to a few games a season be it because of cost or ticket availability or whatever. Most of these people would love nothing more that to watch from the famous KOP so are going to try for tickets in there first. These are the ones who are going to be taking photos and probably wont know the words to all the songs etc. The only way his plan would work is to make the KOP season ticket only, and I can't see that happening. In the life, of a man, there are times and there are seasons.

Mate of mine is from Norway, between him and his other Skandi mates they get about 30+ tickets for each game.
He goes to EVERY single game, home and away and speaks better scouse than most people from Liverpool. Funny how people like this get slagged for being OOT's. He spends a **** load of money on flights, accomodation and has done for years. More of a supporter than a lot of people.

He wasn't having a pop at the out of towners from what I saw. He was having a pop at a loss of the distinctiveness of LFC support which, while not gone, is significantly watered down.Originally posted by bazza76Your right Kenny.
Its a ****e post. Total crap, one of these posts saying look im the best supporter bollox.
We have to accept that we need all the support we can get, apart from last season, ive ben over twice a season since the early 90's (saving for a house, first time buyer in dublin
)
I take photos every time i go, also loose my voice every time i go from shouting. How can we expect every supporter to be at the same high level that the vast majority are, we cant.
Its also a different set of circumstances to when Shankly was about, when people had nothing better to do and lived for the match.
Id like to see a higher standard of vocal support at the games sometimes too but its hard, we cant all of a sudden just say, no, this family cant get in cos they wont be loud enough and take too many photos, or this couple coming all the way from china cant get it because they dont know what to sing, every club the size ours has this problem. and still we are louder than other teams with twice the capicity at their stadiums.
I don't have a problem with people taking photos when the players are warming up. But come on, is it really acceptable to blind the players with flash bulbs when its a corner?? Is it really acceptable to have a completely unrelated chat with your mate on the mobile phone when the match is on??? This is about escapism people. I don't want to hear any bollocks distracting me from the game. I don't hear some pair of ****bags rambling on about their work schedule when the game is on. How can they care if they talk about something completely different while the match is ongoing? How can every part of them be focussed on the team and the match?
This isn't an out of towner thing. This is something us Scousers do too. I've heard the Scouse accents doing these things.
The post was spot on.
When the match starts, turn your phones off.
Photographs are for when the team is warming up. Once the match starts, put your cameras away and watch the bleeding match.
Don't have long conversations with someone about something not to do with the footy in front of you. The rest of us want to watch the match and be involved in it with full concentration and focus. Theres plenty of time for chats about work IN work. There's plenty of time for chats about other stuff OUTSIDE of the ground.
Don't sing "who are ye, who are ye"
Don't copy other teams chants that you heard on MOTD.
But most of all, if you're on the Kop especially, don't dare be outsung by a hundred or so visiting fans. Its embarrassing.
The Kop was once a force of nature. In European nights it often is again. Why do we turn it on only for the big games. Imagine if a player did that. If he was brilliant against Chelsea or Juventus but just couldn't be arsed against Sheff United.
You'd say he wasn't fit to wear the shirt. But if a Kopite acts the same way with his or her support, then that Kopite isn't fit to have the seat.
This is sod all to do with out of towners v Scousers.
Its about behaving properly at the ground. It's about an endeavour to keep the distinct traditions of LFC intact for a generation who inevitably see more football on the tv than they do in person.
Its worthwhile in my view and I thoroughly endorse it

Before the game it doesn't. During the game it does.Originally posted by ReeceSo why exactly does the cameras annoy the hell out of you?
For one, flash bulbs going off round the stadium at a corner or even worse a penalty are friggin ridiculous and the taker must have a greater concern for their own photo album than they do the success of the team.
For two, I want to watch the game through my own eyes, not through the lense of the cameraphone that some dope is holding up in front of my eyes while he takes his photo.
No problem with photos at all. Just not when the match is on.
Ideal solution. Get there at 2.20 when the players are warming up. Take them then. You can often get dead close to them anyhow.

He just didn't explain it properly and his "prick from Cork" line was un called for.In the life, of a man, there are times and there are seasons.

I didn't see that (though his final sentence about the prick from Cork was silly). I don't care where you're from and have mates who travel from Finland at stupid expense for as many games as they can.Originally posted by Ryan_DerrickFor me what he's trying to say is keep the day trippers/OOTer's, whatever you want to call them, out of the KOP and leave it to the hardcore. No problem with Reds from out of town whatsoever. It's not about where you're from in my view.
