Especially when the wingers we do have do not hug the touchline. Constantly drift in. Watch utd today and thats 4-4-1-1 or 4-4-2 fluid.

I don't really agree because I don't rate either of them particularly. I don't think that we'd have ever given Meireles a go in his best position due to him being a ****house and whatnot. I'd have definitely have hung onto Aquilani. I know he's flawed and not the answer. But I don't buy the Kenny excuse that he plays the same position as Gerrard and that's why he left. **** Gerrard has been crocked for the last 6 months at least.

Surely they knew we'd start the season without him and there would be a need for supplement in that position. Aquilani can play deeper as well, alas other people wouldn't want to see that. Adam may be slightly more willing to get stuck in but he's just as bad if not worse at the defensive side of the game. The man can't tackle, simple as that. And unlike some players he can't make a pest of himself instead he makes clumsy fouls by putting his fat body into the opponents. Don't get me wrong he brings a lot of positives but overall I don't fancy him, well not in the capacity we have him at the moment because of the lack of other options he has to be a key player for us because there's no one else to choose from.

It's funny as I say that I see Meireles is supposedly playing the holding role for Chelsea now according to Sky.

We generally look better without him no doubt. Though we were brilliant in the first half v Sunderland and he played his part.

I fear that the reason Raul & Aquilani have been shoved off is 442 is going to be the system of choice.

It's asking for trouble imo. Ferguson made the same mistake against us last year when we beat them 3-1.

Spurs were sharper and hungrier than us despite having played midweek. Kenny should be ****ing furious on that basis alone.

Sloppy in defence, we currently have no reliable CBs. Skrtel had an absolute mare, I'm not sure he was the best option at RB.

Not tenacious enough in midfield; Lucas is definitely a good ball winner but in relatively contained positions, Hendo cannot tackle and Adam can't do so cleanly. Downing is alright defensively but overall our midfield didn't shoulder enough responsibility.

Inability to link up with others from Carroll. Suarez isolated and frustrated. We need to act better as a unit - we seriously lacked cohesion even with 11 men.

Ref was a long way from card shy, but the players should be wise to it. Idiotic sending offs meant we had next to no chance. Adam really let us down.

It was our inability to stamp our authority on the game and get possession that had us chasing shadows even before the first red.

                  Not plenty. No way.

Generally we resort to building up the play to just beyond the half way line before checking back and going all the way back to the back 4 or Pepe. This is followed by an almighty hoof where we usually concede possession. Depressing.

2 bad games away from home, does not make them bad signings.

where has patience gone in modern life? the fact no one has any is so ****ing depressing.

no wonder the country is full of kids that want & expect everything now.

Pathetic post, the resources made available to Kenny this season were nothing Rafa and even the hapless Bodge ever saw. The owners made it clear, 4th or bust.

Kenny threw away £75m on Carrol, Downing and Henderson............that has nothing to do with the past. The £75m could have been put to much better use, plus the tactics were hopeless today.

Sky doing a bit on Ashley Young too, I always thought he and Downing were pretty **** prior to them signing for us and Man utd. Even though I'm still not convinced by Young I am convinced he's a billion times better than Downing.

Oh well, we need to dust ourselves off and put a good performance together next time round. Even though we're heavily flawed I do believe we can get something going here to correct these poor results.

We've played good football in 4 from 5 league games and you are saying we havent played any. I know you are annoyed but lets not start making stuff up, theres plenty of realities to whinge about.

                              Fair point.

And one thing I'll defend Kenny about today is on the Flanagan vs Skrtel debate; he was always on to a battering with that one if the result went against us.

                                I agree with this.

I think Kenny's job now is finding the right formation and sticking with it, I think in January we need to buy a right winger, so we can keep Downing on the left, just someone else with pace and trickery, and maybe even another CB, I think we could be seeing the end of Agger or Skrtel sooner rather than later.
