They looked a lot better than us today.
It's a prediction thread on a wish list.

Shocking is going overboard after only 2 home games and 3 really tough away games, not great though. Mediocre is a fairer description.

Losing 4-0 is shocking regardless of the circumstances

Purposefully stayed out of watching any post match analysis or any other game after the match.

It was an all round collapse from the manager, the team, the staff. We can sit analyzing it and find hundreds of things which went wrong with the game today. Whatever could potentially go wrong went wrong. Until today's performance we have started well. No need to hit the panic button.

At the same time I think Carroll and Henderson need to be benched. Playing like this wont help their confidence. We should start with Kuyt, Bellamy, Suarez, Gerrard, Downing put a few wins under our belt, and then slowly integrate Carroll and Henderson into a winning team.

He wasnt talking about one game, might want to read it properly next time.

I think Gerrard, Bellamy, Kuyt and Maxi into the side next week will freshen things up big time.

I was bringing in the shocking element into his start of the season assessment

Starting Carroll was a mistake today IMO. Until he's fully bedded into the side/club, i would only start Carroll at home against lesser opposition. Eg, next weekend.

i think skrtel is rubbish inspite of where he plays. he's always good for at least one monumental **** up and today he had a few more than normal. did anyone seriosuly think that he could actually contain gareth bale ? he's the worst centre back we have but what can you do when you are missing 2 first choice rightbacks.

however, there we got rid of a few **** players and replaced them with more expensive **** ones instead.

yes arsenal, stoke and spurs away is a tough start but if we have any sort of champions league aspirations you need to pick up results away from home. there are question marks over kenny no doubt.

Erm...we beat Arsenal and only lost at Stoke in bizarre circumstances, when on any other day, we'd have won the game.

So yes, we did indeed pick up a result in one of the three, and would normally have done so in the another.

re the whole Carra/Skrtel at RB thing, Carra may be slow and may well have been crucified out there today like Skrtel was, but the point is it's not all about pace. Carra has tons more experience of playing at RB and is positionally much more aware/responsible. Skrtel is a disaster at RB and one good game there against an abysmal Bolton side doesn't change that. He was positionally all over the place today and Carragher wouldn't have been lacking in that department.

I never want to see Skrtel at right back again.

Don't think it is.................given whats been spent, and the "feel good factor" that was supposedly in evidence towards the end of the season, despite the defeats...................this start is not good enough.
Dropped points at home, dropped points in a style all too familiar against Stoke...OK we won a game at the worst Arsenal side in the last few years (which I expected us to win), standard win against Bolton (still our best performance).....added to one of the worst performances in a long time today.
IMO its pretty shocking given whats expected.

But once you see that he's getting skinned for pace, but more importantly, is positionally inept at right back, and it's looks for all the world like we are playing without a right back, then you have to change it. I don't care if its only 20 minutes in. At least have Flanagan on the bench so it's an option. It was poor all round.
Not forgetting that he could've moved Skrtel in to the middle and brought on Kuyt instead of Coates. The Coates substitution was an unfair test on the lad and could unsettle his nerves
