I don't think Kenny intended to play Henderson as much as he has done, he will be the one to make way for Gerrard. He clearly needs time to develop.

Prolonged injury to Gerrard is probably the reason why he's played most games.

Too many players went missing and hid. We need 10 Suarezs out there at the moment.
I thought Suarez was missing also on Sunday

Maybe more through frustration than anything

I still believe there is an order in football it hasnt changed for decades

First and foremost you have to compete for possession and win the second ball then you do your pass and move

Against Spuds we didnt even compete for possession

Also I'd like to give credit to Parker, the last few games hes played against us he has dominated our central midfield

Spurs won because first and foremost they won ALL the midfield battles

Aquilani and Meireles can hardly be considered ball winners

Sometimes you have to do the basics first and winning tackles and second balls should be high up any managers list of requirements from his central midfielders
But having a technical player who could have put their foot on the ball and dictated the pace of the game a bit more would have been very helpful. I must say, I was one of Adam's biggest fans last year, but I've not been overly impressed with him thus far.

By the way, good to see you posting again Lec

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                  I don't get the criticism.

That was our first poor display this season, and in all fairness had Modric not scored a wonder goal we may well have settled and got back into the game. Adam getting sent off was the death knell, but we still managed to hold on until Skrtel got sent off.

Had we been 11 v 11 for 90 mins and coming away from a 4-0 result then fair enough, but that wasn't the case. I still think we'll finish top 4. But I did warn that this sort of criticism would rear its ugly head because of all the ridiculous expectations flying around.

                    Basically what I said
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

i think this is bang on. its basics really even when playing sunday league or saturday semi pro or whatever, the first thing you do is you earn the right to play football. Which means you compete for every ball, go for the tackles, you put in for 50 50's and once you have domination of the second balls you then earn the right to play football. spurs arent going to roll over and let us play pretty triangles or one twos.

we dont seem to be able to win the physical battles anymore and the decision to play lucas and adam against parker and modric is where we lost the game. If you put henderson in there too and start downing wide left, suarez wide right and alright carroll upfront but thats the first step towards competing for the ball.

modric is a top top player. he is good enough to get into barcelonas team and the lad didnt miss a single pass on sunday. To suggest that either lucas or adam could handle him is just barmy.

when gerrards back i hope we revert to 4231 because this 442 is so outdated its untrue. I even saw our under 18's play 442 against barnsley and they looked like they'd never played with each other before. With gerrard at the point of midfield, all of a sudden charlie adam wont have to try too much with the ball, the midfield will have much more cover, downing wont have to drop too deep to pick up the ball and suarez might have some chances created for him for once.

I never saw anyone ever get between spurs lines on sunday when we have enough players like downing and suarez to cause teams lots of problems by playing in between their midfield and defence but the team wasnt set up correctly.

Maybe its the whole andy carroll thing. when he plays kenny might be under pressure to play two wide players to get the balls into the box but it just doesnt work. we left ourselves exposed in the middle like we did vs man city (under hodgson) last year and we paid for it.

Spurs were tearing us apart so much so it was embarassing. Yes, had we not had Adam sent off (fairly), had Modric not scored his (wonder) goal, had we spent our money wisely on the type of quality players one would expect at the club for £100m, then yes things might have been different. But there are too many what ifs in that for my liking. We were poor from the start and we got exactly what we deserved.

People were bigging us up 3 games in, saying what a great start we had after a piss easy run of opening fixtures and 7 points, everything was rosey. But when you analyse it, we faced a piss poor arsenal, drew against Sunderland and had a win against Bolton. We then lost to Stoke and were battered by Spurs.

Suddenly we're 5 games in and only 2 points better off than we were in our worst start for decades under Hodgson. Only the difference being that in his opening 5 games he faced Utd, City and a far superior Arsenal. Man Utd already have accumulated more than double our points tally. All this after getting rid of the deadwood and spending around £100m.

Make no mistake, we've spent £100m in the worst possible way, the evidence is there for all to see, only those with the rose tinted specs can't see it.

You run out of prozac mate?

I think spending £100m on G&H's debt was a lot worse way of spending money btw.
