Fair enough but I think we may be risking too much if we let Carra play and lose him due to some stupid injury.

Skrtel's is a one game ban, so he'll be back for Wolves. I wouldn't be against Skrtel/Coates starting that one anyway tbh.

Of course he could pick up a longer term injury, but that can happen any game. Don't want to risk getting knocked out here, not with recent results. And it's about time we lifted a trophy again, I don't care how mickey mouse it is.

Are you sure that Carling Cup match counts towards his one game ban?

If that's the case no reason not to play Carra on Wednesday.

I was certain that Adam & Skrtel would only miss the Brighton game yeah, unless you know something I don't.

Nah 100% sure. I remember last season, someone got sent off in the league and missed a CC game.

I quickly scanned the rule book and it seems both Skrtel and Adam can serve their one game ban against Brighton.

            (i) PLAYERS SENT OFF UNDER LAW 12 (7)
A Player who is dismissed from the Field of Play for receiving a second caution in the same match will be suspended automatically from FTCM commencing forthwith, until such time as his Club’s First Team has completed its next FTCM.
            SEASON 2011/2012

Note: FTCM are matches in the following competitions: FA Challenge Cup [FA Cup], FA Challenge Trophy, FA Premier League, Football League, Football League Cup [Carling Cup], Football League Trophy, the Football Conference and The FA WSL.
On that basis I'd go with Carra and Coates as CB pairing on Wednesday and not Wilson/Coates.

What's the score with Agger's injury, do we know yet?

Get the ball to the wings quickly. Tell them to stick to their side of the pitch. Pump in quality crosses. Make Carroll the captain for the day and give him some ****ing responsibility. We'll win 6-0.

I think we need to play as strong a side as possible to get the team playing well as a unit, put in a good performance and forget about the weekend's result & performance.

Obviously we'll be missing some players presumably Adam and Skrtel will both have 1 match bans which will apply for this game? Also we'll be missing Agger, Coates should play, I'd stick Flanagan at RB and Spearing in for Adam, and I'd like to see Kuyt in for either Henderson or Carroll.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Brighton will be a very difficult game. If we're not on ours, a upset is very much on the cards. Not sure I can be arsed listening to the crisis the media will portray it as if that happens.

                        Need a strong side out.
Brighton play Leeds at home 2 nights after our game, and Poyet has always maintained their league campaign is of much more importance than the Carling Cup. I dont think they will field their first XI.

If we cant beat their reserves with our reserves, then there's a problem.

Thinking about it again I'd go with as strong a team as possible, we need to get playing together as a unit, there are problems there, and the team needs as many games as possible together to develop some real understanding for the league games. Obviously some players are missing due to injury/suspension Agger, Adam, Skrtel and I'm assuming Kelly, Johnson and Gerrard:

                          -------------------Reina------------------

                          Flanagan - Carragher -- Coates --- Enrique

                          Henderson - Spearing -- Lucas --- Downing

                          -------------Carroll---Suarez-------------

That's what I'd do based on the fact Kenny seems to want Henderson for the league games, and I'd use this match to get the team to gel (Personally I'd be tempted to play Kuyt instead of Henderson).

If we aren't using this game to gel the first team and we play more squad players I'd probably expect to see Robinson, Maxi &Bellamy in place of Enrique, Downing & Henderson, and probably Kuyt instead of one of Carroll or Suarez.

Brighton - flying high, on top of the world, about to face their cup final (against us).

Us - demoralised and broken, susceptible to lower division teams in cups, heartless midfield.

Either we turn it out around big style like Shaggy suggests or we whimper out as usual. Too close to call. I'll keep my cup half full and say Spearing and Lucas will re-ignite our passion from the middle and Suarez/Bellamy/Kuyt will do plenty of damage up front.
                            One tit for another.

Everyone needs to play, they need the practice.
Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon
