      Know exactly what you mean.

How's Brightons form at their new home ? While we need this to get that rubbish display out of our system, have'nt Brighton been doing well, playing like a fluent side ?

      Yeah, form looks good.

At home they are not conceeding goals, but the young C/B they have Dunk (very good player) picked up his 5th booking on Sat so not sure he is playing. THey have had a few injuries at the back, so hopefully tarrico will play & he makes soto look like Usain Bolt.

So long as we play more to our level we should be ok, but a disjointed display and this could get tricky.

I'm starting to worry that players like Suarez, Lucas, and maybe a couple more may have issues with fitness going forward, tiredness and fatigue from lots of football could lead to other issues, hopefully not, but they've played a lot of football for a long time.

Have we ever played 4231 under Kenny?

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish set to name Steven Gerrard in his squad to face Brighton in the Carling Cup

The Scot has seen his side lose twice in two outings - first narrowly to Stoke and then heavily to Tottenham - while yesterday the Liverpool manager was informed he would be without defender Daniel Agger for a month thanks to a broken rib.

That is likely to result in Sebastian Coates, the Uruguayan international central defender signed for £7 million from Nacional last month, making his first start for the Anfield side in a revamped defence at the Amex Stadium, alongside teenage full-backs John Flanagan and Jack Robinson.

But it is how Gerrard will be deployed, should he be granted a cameo role, that will be of most interest to Liverpool’s travelling contingent.

Dalglish has employed a 4-4-2 formation in the opening salvos of the campaign, with the Brazilian international Lucas alongside Charlie Adam in central midfield and Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson on the flanks.

Gerrard occupied a central role in the six games he played for Dalglish when the Scot replaced Roy Hodgson on a temporary basis last season, before a torn groin ended his campaign following the 3-1 defeat of Manchester United on Mar 6.

Playing the 31-year-old alongside Adam would leave Liverpool without the natural shield Lucas provides, while the former Blackpool midfielder’s set-pieces - as well as his £7 million price tag - do not suggest Dalglish is intending to drop him.

That would suggest the Liverpool manager may revert to a 4-3-3 system following a mixed start to the season, with Lucas protecting a midfield of both Adam (??) and Gerrard, with Downing and Luis Suarez occupying nominally wide roles behind Andy Carroll, playing as a lone front man.

Dalglish has pledged to play a strong team against Gustavo Poyet’s side, not simply because of the importance of the Carling Cup to his club’s ambitions, but in an attempt to exorcise the memories of that demoralising defeat at White Hart Lane.

“It didn’t please anybody and the players were really disappointed,” said Dalglish. “We don’t think we played well, even with 11 men we didn’t play well. Maybe that’s the standard we are setting for ourselves but we are not going to settle for anything less.”

There's plenty of experience up front but lacking that in the back 5 IMO. I'm tipping Fab won't be fit .

I love the fact that in the Telegraph article it says Kenny won't want to drop Adam because of his price tag of £7m.
Completely ignoring the fact that he has been leaving Andy Carroll out at 5 times the price
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

It might be a good idea to rest Suarez? And Carroll should thrive against less sophisticated defences having cut his teeth in the Championship - needs his confidence boosting too.
