"I have had seven knee operations in the last nine years and it is no secret that I struggle to play two games in a week because of my patella tendon.
"The physios went to see Mancini about it early in the week and he was great. He understood. Me playing two games in three days just wasn't going to happen."
Ah ****, yeah I remember that now.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
started very well....the interlinking between suarez/kuyt/bellamy was very good and surely they must be inline to start now against wolves ahead of carroll/henderson.
Maxi was a little bit anonymous, so swap him for downing down the left.
great to have kelly and gerrard back in the side!! massive massive plus points, but i reckon we won't see gerrard start until till maybe man u or norwich at home.
good that we got game time for coates and robinson too.
We should have been 2 or 3 up at half time which would have really killed the game.
2nd half we just went through the motions
no real complaints....it's the carling cup, we went through against a very tricky and potential banana skin.
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do
Really good first half creating loads of chances but just not taking them
2nd half was a bit one paced with the movement and passing not coming together, the fact that we are seemingly unable to put together two good halves of football at the moment is a concern.
Thought Bellamy was excellent, Spearing had a decent game before the pen incident, Coates looked fairly decent barring a stray pass and the odd lunge and Robinson was again solid a LB
Great to see Gerrard back
Oh and I hope Brighton go up, decent footballing side with a good manager and fanbase
Craig Bellamy is pleased to have scored his first goal since returning to Liverpool after helping to earn a place in the fourth round of the Carling Cup.
The Wales striker moved back to Anfield on transfer deadline day after spending an initial season with the club in 2006/07 before moving on to West Ham, Manchester City and Cardiff for a loan spell.
Bellamy scored nine goals in all competitions in his first stint with Liverpool and the last of those came in the memorable UEFA Champions League win over Barcelona at Camp Nou.
It may not have been as glamorous a location on Wednesday night when the 32-year-old reopened his Reds account in the cup win at Brighton, but he admits it was a 'good feeling'.
"It was a nice goal and I was pleased with it," Bellamy told Liverpool's official website.
"I managed to link up with Luis Suarez who is such an impressive player and it was a good feeling.
"I thought we steamrollered them (Brighton) in the first half. Our movement and everything was outstanding, but it just proves that when you are so on top you need to score the second and third goal."
He added: "We had a lot of players out there like myself who needed the 90 minutes and I enjoyed it."
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard returned from a six-month injury absence as a second-half substitute and he was impressed by Bellamy's efforts.
Gerrard said: "It was a fantastic performance from Craig.
"That's why we signed him. We're really pleased to have him here. The fans saw a taste tonight of what he's going to offer us."
