We were '****e' 'average' etc etc, 'boring' blah blah. 2nd half wasnt our best and yes, we were under pressure and a bit lucky. But so were Wolves, we hit the post and bar, had several other chances, broke away with pace and threatened on more than a couple of occasions. And while it's never pleasing to be put under the kind of pressure we were, we actually defended it pretty well.

The only real area of criticism is that we're not clinical enough with our finishing. Having said that, hitting post and bar isnt exactly missing by much.

    Too many whingers here.
the thing that worries me is that we are far too easy to play against. teams will see how wolves pissed all over our midfield for atleast half an hour in todays game. We just couldnt get anywhere near them and we resorted to playing on the counter attack at home!

after watching benitez set his teams up with very strong midfields, i just cant get used to opposition teams dominating ours. Its disturbing.

Bob, true, I agree with that but there's got to be a bit more to it than that.

Nobert, I see what you are saying but to be honest this has been going on for quite a bit longer than the arrival of Adam and Henderson. With Kenny, I believe he is just trying to get these players to gel.

We're doing ok so far this season and we do normally get stronger as the season goes on, so here's hoping

A win is a win and the 3 points is all that matters.
We seem to go to pieces at the back after we concede, the whole back 4 were poor Enrique aside who i thought had another good game.

Henderson and Adam should have been taken off far earlier, Hendo was a passenger for the whole game and Adam appeared to be blowing out of his arse for most of the second half.

Dont understand people saying Carroll was poor, thought it was his best game for us, held the ball up well and brought people into the game far better than hes done so far, looked a goal threat on a few occasions and partnered well with Suarez, i have no problem with his contribution today.

If we'd scored one of them chances after they pulled a goal back we'd have done them about 5-1, we need to start putting those away, being more clinical and finishing teams off far earlier.

All in all, a good 3 points, 2 wins in a week under our belts after the Spurs debacle, and roll on the Bitters next week.

Nothing against Skrtel's piss poor fouls?

Adam was absent in the second half, and I'd have rathered seen him make way than Suarez personally. Henderson didn't help matters either. I thought Lucas was superb today.

That's not about selection. I dont know how anyone can say we were '****' in the 2nd half, we could've easily scored 3 or 4 goals. Carroll hit the post, someone else hit the bar, Suarez had the one saved when the keeper flapped at the cross and it dropped to Luis.

I dont think they 'pissed all over our midfield'. They scored an early goal 2nd half and we got nervous and backed off a bit, which let them impose themselves a bit. Not saying that's ideal, but the confidence is still clearly a bit fragile and that kind of thing can happen after 2 consecutive league defeats (one of which was a spanking).

Thought Andy Carroll was superb. Held the ball up well and deserved a goal. To be honest the substitution made total sense. Kuyt was on because Henderson was not helping Kelly. Gerrard was brought on because we were losing midfield as Adam tired. To stop the flow he had to pack midfield so it was obviously Gerrard for a striker. Carroll was holding the ball up so well he was right to keep him on.

Gerrard looked great when he came on. One other thing is that Downing needs to put away these chances he gets. He could have killed the game earlier with that one on one.

A combination of bad luck and less than clinical finishing, to keep an average but plucky Wolves team in the game, fair play to them.

Too open for my liking, Skrtel as many of us have been saying for years is a complete and utter liability, Carra is a legend but is so ropey. I thought Carroll was excellent today, especially on the ground and was unlucky not to score, his movement was bit better too although playing a wee bit too deep IMO.

Suarez was a class act, gutted not to see him and Stevie playing together. Gerrard was excellent when he came on too. Lucas & Adam weren't great today, Adam fades and Lucas just looks bit worn from teh Copa. Henderson was average once again.
Carra in the first half almost cost us one and Skrtel's performance today was a big worry.

That said, that pair is the best we currently have with Agger being injured and Coates still not being ready for this type of games on regular basis.

We looked like the away team for huge chunks of that. I'm getting genuinely worried about how we are, or rather not, shaping up.

No chance. Suarez was a livewire but he was losing the ball. Carroll was better holding the ball up and made some important clearing headers as we came under more pressure at the end. It was the right substitution.

our backline is the biggest worry for me at the moment, with United coming up soon i'm praying Agger is fit for it. January needs a CB addition IMO.
