Basically we don't have enough finishers in the team.

today was massively frustrating. The defence at the moment looks bloody shaky, Pepe was at fault for the goal but I think this borne out of a lack of confidence in the 2 centre backs in front of him - I want to see Agger and Skrtel start next week, and if fit Kelly back at RB as Johnson looked well short today.
Downing on the right does my head in, he looks shot confidence wise and Dirk was massively frustrating today.
It's not all doom and gloom though, on a different day we'd have had 6 or 7, we're creating plenty of chances but we need to be finishing them, I think we were unlucky today but we do need to win these games.

I'm a bit suspicious of what is classed as a shot. Many times, one of our players (yes you Kuyt and Downing) will shoot and hit an opponent 2 yards away. I'd label that as bad-decision making rather than poor finishing.Originally posted by Lee View PostThat's simply not good enough.
12 goals from 151 shots ffs. The teams we play alway seem to have one shot and score from it.

on one hand were missing a lot of chances but at least were creating them. today was a massively disappointing result but I think this is stage one of about five that are needed to rebuilt liverpool. its easy for us to think weve got all these world class players and we should be doing better but its very hard to see how all of the bits will fit together until you actually see the whole machine functioning as one.
currently the midfield isnt working and its something kenny may address in the january transfer window. we cant get the ball back quick enough once weve lost it and it encourages teams even crap ones to try and play.
we need someone who will win the ball back and play it simple. even lucas isnt a ball winner but a good defensive shield.
maybe its the pressing tactics although to be fair you cant press the ball if one of your central midfield players cant close people down quick enough. even naff teams will play triangles around you.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

For all of our chances, possession and shots, we score nowhere near enough goals.
Suarez himself had 6,7 goal scoring chances today.

Even if we had scored all those chances, the point is, we shouldn't be giving away clean sheets as regularly as we are. It gives 'lesser' teams a reason to park the bus and counter attack. But right now, their whole team is getting involved and we're losing the midfield battle after 45 minutes!!!

That means we have on average 13 shots for every goal
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
