But during Heskey's first season with us, you wouldnt have had the benefit of knowing he'd stop scoring in the future seasons - so at that point, based on the only evidence available (the first season), you'd have to have described him as having been prolific at that moment in time. Same with Carroll, re his PL time with Newcastle.

It does seem odd, I can understand us taking a different approach for the Man Utd game (hence him not starting that), but I didn't understand why he only got the last 10mins against Norwich after having his two decent performances and getting a confidence boosting goal.Agree that it is very strange.Originally posted by Arn View PostYou start to wonder if something happened off the pitch.
I think myself that he is another Keane. We signed him but later discovered that we really don't need him. He doesn't fit into the system etc.
I didn't thought a month ago that there is any chance that we may sell him but now I'm not so sure.
Even more so when you think that he'd started to put in better performances for us (Wolves), he scored a crucial goal in the Derby which must've done wonders for his confidence... and then nothing.

What type of player would be best suited to play together with Suarez in a 4-4-2?Originally posted by Lee View PostAgree that it is very strange.

I can't see it being a Carroll type of player. I think the best suited player to play together with him in our squad would be Gerrard. It would be more like a 4-4-1-1. It would be interesting to see how he would link up with an out and out goal scorer like Morgan. Not played in the league yet of course but he may or may not be a success.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

Someone with pace and great movement, like Forlan though obviously not him now as he's nearing his end but that sort of player. When him and Carroll are together and Suarez drops deep its painful seeing him wait for Carroll to run somewhere before he can pass it to him then he usually gets out paced anyway. I like Andy but am not sure he can get the best out of Suarez.Originally posted by Arn View PostWhat type of player would be best suited to play together with Suarez in a 4-4-2?

Not necessarily - he was outscored by Cottee. Its subjective anyway Craig. I can see where you're coming from. I would call that a prolific spell, but that doesn't mean he's a prolific player (to me).Originally posted by Craig_H View PostBut during Heskey's first season with us, you wouldnt have had the benefit of knowing he'd stop scoring in the future seasons - so at that point, based on the only evidence available (the first season), you'd have to have described him as having been prolific at that moment in time. I'm struggling with the whole Carroll situation. I really wasn't a fan, but thought he'd showed enough in the three games mentioned by other posters to at least warrant a run of games. It seems strange that its all gone about face and he isn't really getting a look in. But, like Rafa said in a recent interview, the manager is the only one with all the information to hand.

I don't have a breakdown per season but thisOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostWho was outscored by Cottee?
Heskey 2000-01 season with LFC: 22 goals
Cottee 2000-01 season with Barnet: 9 goals
Cottee - Leicester (97-2000) - 85/27
Heskey - Leicester (94-2000) - 154/40
I'm sure he outscored him those three seasons. I may be mistaken.

It proved to be anomalous. Which kind of comes back to the definition of a prolific player. Bit round the houses, but I think that's what I was saying a few hours agoOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostOk but what does that have to do with whether Heskey was prolific in his first season at Liverpool?
