That's my new book. 'Shut the **** Up, by Dr. Denis Leary'. Patients come in. 'Doctor I-' Shut the **** up! NEXT!! 'Doctor, I've got this-' SHUT THE **** UP!! NEXT! 'He made me feel so much better. He just told me to shut the **** up. Nobody ever told me that before!'

So if we are better than we were a year ago at this point, that means Dalglish is taking us in the right direction. It seems like people want instant success which just isn't going to happen.
Regardless of how many big signings you make, it is going to take the team a while to gel together. Look at Man City for that, now they are looking formidable but it took a while for that to click into gear. We need a couple of big name signings that everybody can be happy with and I think we will be up there challenging for the league by 1-2 seasons.

We have spent 100m got rid of hodgson and brought in Dalglish, tbh I would have expected a bit more than 2 extra points from last season.

to be fair, that is a really good comparison. I had me doubts about Mancini like a lot of people but it does go to show what a bit of time and patience (and a few hundred mill) can get you.
Didnt they finish 5th then 4th and now look like they could seriously compete for the title this year.
I think the group of players we have now can get us into 4th place but I reckon we need to use more of the squad. Maxi and Spearing should get a game to put some pressure on Downing and Adam. Maybe it might give them a kick up the arse.
Once we get into the top 4 then we can look at a better calibre of player so we can compete for the title.

True but the difference with last season is that we have been unlucky not to have had many more points. IMO we deserved 3 against Sunderland, should have had at least a draw (if not a win) against Stoke (Outplayed them, they are just stubborn *******s). Also, the latest one, Norwich we deserved 3 points. There are far, far more positives over the Hodgson reign last season. We have been playing good football but just need to start putting our chances away. We have been unlucky as I see it.
It's a mixed bag of tables, we have been worse off in terms of points and still qualified for the champions league, however these were usually in the earlier seasons about 5-6 years ago when a lower points total was usually required to make the top 4. More recently the number of points to make the top 4 has increased, so I think we are going to be in a tough battle.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
