No thanks. Should be blooding his replacement in in games like this. Coates should start IMO.

Carra is still one of our most important players, his experience and communication at the back is vital, and with no European football, theres no reason why he shouldn't be playing. I'm sure Stoke will play a strong team so we need to be at our best if we going to get a result. Coates will get plenty chances, but i'd like to think we taking this and the FA Cup serious this year as its been too long with no cup success.

If we are to drop/rest Carra for this one, then i'd like to see Skrtel and Agger, but I expect Carra to play.

If Carragher is one of out most important players then there is no hope for us. He's finished. He's been terrible for the vast majority of this season, despite his so-called 'communication skills'.

I'd have Carra ahead of Skrtel and Coates in a heartbeat and so would most fans. Coates is young and is learning and will progress hopefully into a starter and Skrtel for me is a liability at times. He is a decent player no doubt, but some of his decision making is poor.

If Carra has been "terrible", Kenny would have dropped him. He has made a couple mistakes, but we are stronger with him atm than without - thankfully Kenny can see that.

Carra and Agger is the best pairing, so i'd stick with them, injury-free providing for most of the games. Stoke away will be tough, so I wouldn't want young and inexperienced centre backs at Stoke away like Wilson or Coates.

For me Kelly - Carra - Agger - Enrique is our best back 4. Glen needs to show more constistency and his defending is so poor at times. Kelly is solid and thats all you can ask from a young defender.

Carra still has a part to play but we should be looking to blood someone who has the potential to be in the heart of our defense for a long time to come. Coates and Agger to start for me and Carra phased out like sami was. I want to win silverware too but playing Coates against Prem sides is important for his development IMO. He did OK in the friendly against Rangers but needs the time on the pitch against better opposition to aid his cause.

                    'Blooding'

Such a funny phrase. I wonder where that metaphor came from?
                    Oh I don't know.

Fox hunting. Maybe hunting in general.
                      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

So somebody on their first hunt would be 'blooded'?
                        Oh I don't know.

Yes. They'd have blood from the kill smeared on their face, as an initiation.
