I can't think of any aspect of life where people praise more than criticise, religion maybe. When you want a team to achieve, I'd say it's human nature to focus on the areas for improvement (ignoring the x is wank type comments, as everyone should). No point playing to the gallery and knocking people for it imo.

Still, it's interesting you mention religion. I was thinking during the minute's silence that football has taken over the role of religion. Why is a football match held up so we can honour the dead of the armed forces? In the past that would have been the function of the Church.

And like religion people can take it too far. Sectarianism in religion has become transmuted into tribalism in football (except in Glasgow where it's the same thing).
