Why, what has he done? I'm really asking because I don't know, but I've always had very high hopes for him.

Not sure about that, their fans are hammering him for how bad he's been.

IF he moves he will be 17 by the time January comes, think he is ready for sub action although worry about his small stature. the likes of Rooney were built like a brick **** house at that age!

Really? Haven't followed his progress at all other than his debut goal.

In Shelvey's 5 games at Blackpool he's scored 2 goals and has one assist, for a 19 year old kid I think that's a decent record (on paper at least). He's still young and will have good games and bad, that's part of the learning process.

Blackpool's record in those 5 games is quite poor: Won 2 Lost 3 I'm sure he's not the only one whose performances haven't been great (that's also hinted at in those threads). I suspect while there may be some truth in what their fans say, they are frustrated because their team isn't playing well and they lost their best 2 midfielders in the summer (Adam and Vaughan(?)), obviously the players they have replaced them with either haven't gelled or aren't of the same quality. Having been in the Premiership their fans have high expectations and the team is underperforming.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Because he looks and moves so awkward, I think he’ll always divide opinion.

I see a talented player in him, but the comparisons with Gerrard I don’t.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Is Craig posting on this board too?

Your in a timewarp, they might be struggling at the moment but it's not because they play hoof football. They are much more open now, they've lost all 5 of their home games

I'd rather keep Flanagan here, I think he'll get some game time here but Sterling won't.

That's the thing. If he is going to get some game time as an impact sub and maybe even one or 2 starts if we are lucky I think it will be good experience for him.

From what I've seen of Sterling he can make things happen on the pitch so I don't think it's so important how the team he is playing in is performing.

I'd like to see him get some experience playing against PL opposition and see how he copes.

If he could get 15 to 20 minutes sub action for 2 out of every 3 games that would be perfect. Yes, but Owen wasn't and he did OK!

Wow, just saw that, thought he was doing well for them.

                          Bolton it is then.

No they do actually still play hoofball.

Bolton have lost 13 of their last 15 league games.

Doesn't matter though - Coyle is still a great managerial prospect. Imagine if they had some hapless Spaniard or another clueless foreigner in charge? He'd be being ripped to shreds. But good old British Coyle has massive potential, never mind the stats.

I agree about the treatment in the media but at the same time I do think that even good managers have bad patches and the better ones learn from them.

I like Coyle as a manager generally but he does seem to take criticism badly and I wonder how open he is to changing things when his plan A isn't working.

Not sure that I agree with either side on the style debate. They aren't a team based on long balls exclusively but they do tend to use them to transition from defence. They lack a Elmander or Strurridge willing and able to drop of their main forward at the minute IMO. Ngog needs to lead the line, as does Davies really.
