Thoughts on New Players

No you weren't. It is a promising partnership that is developing. I particularly liked the anticpation of Kuyt for the first goal. He was off like a hare and the Reading defender looked around and saw him go and probably thought "Oh ****"

Aurelio- Not a left back and never will be. Hopeless at defending. 3rd choice left midfield at best.
Pennant- looks over-awed every time I see him play
Paletta- Not enough games yet
Bellamy - frustrated by our system I think. Rafa's tactics don't get the best out of him.
Gonzalez - Hasn't settled yet, needs more games. Disappointed as I thought he was going to bring some much needed energy to our team.
Kuyt - Looks like a striker. He's settling in well.

Aurelio - HAS shown glimpses of quality but being our first ever brazilian, is well within his rights to use the excuse that he'll time to settle.
Pennant - Occasional signs of quality but not nearly enough. Seems like a man who knows he's punching above his weight at a club like liverpool. No problems with him being in the squad though - handy to have as backup.
Paletta - looked good in pre-season. Can't say much more than that at the moment.
Bellamy - completely out of his depth and he knows it.
Gonzalez - similar situation to Aurelio - occasional signs that he'll be a hit but may need time to settle before we can judge properly. My gut feeling is that he won't make the grade.
Kuyt - Looks the part so far. He's either the complete all-action man or can go missing. Jury is still out but I think he's here for the duration.

He'll come good. No worse at defending than Ashley Cole or Patrice Evra. Left backs aren't generally reknowned for their defensive qualities anyway. Let me put it another way......Aurelio or Traore?!?!?!? Exactly.

Pennant, Bellamy and Gonzalez is too early to say. You need to give a player at least a season to bed in. Gonzalez in particular has been struggling with a virus and isn't really fit. As I pointed out in a similar thread to this last night, he's a young kid,let us remind ourselves, that in 2 years has moved from South America, to spain and then merseyside - a huge cultural shift. He probably doesn't know which planet he's on at the moment.

To be honest so far this season at LB I would have gone fot Traore. However I have seen enough of Aurelio to see that he offers a lot more potentially. His defensive play has reminded me of Riises bad patches, I think Rafa will sort him out in that regard given time. However Ashley Cole is actually a brilliant defender these days, haven't seen enough of Evra to comment though.

Penany and Bellendy need to pull their fingers out ASAP!

It's not always about different cultures but style of play, comfort in an area, or with the peope around. I think all players need to be given at least six months to prove themselves irrelevant of where they were sourced from.

Bellamy hasn't been playing that badly. Where is this coming from all of a sudden? He's only played a handful of games. Pennant has been hot and cold, but so has the team in general. Lets get some perspective here, this is the kind of over-reaction you get on 606. People demanding instant results. Brilliance from the go.

Beardsley, Dalglish and Rush didn't exactly set the world on fire during their first six months at the club. FFS give these guys a chance.

I disagree, and for you to make that assumption after what 7/8 games is ridiculous. sure you're probably basing it on the times you've seen him play for Blackburn, the Geordies, Celtic et al

but he hasn't been given the time in *our* setup so maybe it's better to make this kind of judgment at the end of the season.
