It's something of nothing that has been blown out of proportion.

I don't like the politics that Clarkson stands for, but he's very funny and people should know by now to take everything he says with a massive pinch of salt. It's quite funny how people get wound up about the things he says.

I'm not backing him, I couldn't care less about him. But it was clearly done for attention & all the Maude Flanders types out there have swiftly taken the bait. Heard a woman on radio yesterday saying she'd complained, despite not having seen the show.

**** me - why are people bending over backwards to accomodate Clarkson's "sense of humour"? He's only having a laugh! He clearly doesn't mean it! Clarkson only ever has a laugh at other people's expense and he most certainly ****in does mean it and I'd say he means an awful lot worse. And why does freedom of speech for some people only cover people like Clarkson's right to be imbecilic, ****e-spouting ****wits but not people's right to complain about him and call him a cunt? He "has a laugh" in the exact same way as Finchey in The Office does.

There was some footage on the news yesterday when he got his honorary doctorate at Oxford and someone ran up and shoved a custard pie in his face.

He was happy to laugh at himself and congratulated the person who did it.

He's not always my cup of tea but if you accept the fact that he's on a permanent wind up he's perfectly tolerable

Seriously wondering after today's results if we can finish in the top 4 this season. I'm aware that this may sound knee jerk but forums exist as a place to voice opinions.

1st and 2nd will go to the Manc clubs IMO. Spurs are currently in 3rd and are on a great run, it could end of course and they may start dropping points but their midfield is arguably the best int he league, also their attacking options are excellent - Ade, Bale, VDV, Defoe and Lennon. They could quite possibly get 3rd with relative ease.
Chelsea have not been impressive but they still have depth and with January coming up Roman will not hesitate in splashing out if they are struggling. Another possible scenario is AVB will be sacked which would be bad for us as Hiddink is waiting in the wings, unfortunately Guus's record speaks for itself.
Arsenal have surprised everyone after the catastrophic start they had. RVP is the alpha and omega of that team and of course he may get injured but what if he dosen't ?? They will be fighting for 3rd/4th place as long as RVP stays fit.

Now I just want to make it clear that I am not writing us off and I'm aware that we are only in December but I'm just finding it difficult to see which of those teams we will finish above.

Of course we will be fighting for 3rd/4th but it will be a monumental task to finish top 4 especially if we don't spend in January. For example look at Spurs midfield and then ours - Modric, Parker, VDV, Sandro and Kranjcar. We have Adam, Spearing and Henderson. Lucas is out for the rest of the season and Gerrard can't be relied on anymore.

Yeah but by that logic, we should never have got to Istanbul either.

It's not simply & entirely about who has the better players or stronger midfield.

By the same token, look at Arsenal's defence and then look at ours. You could make a case either way.

i think the previous 3 games have shown we can compete with the best. Its just a matter of consistency. Its never going to be easy because its the premierleague and there are 6 top teams now. It is the most competitive league in the world and on any given day i think any team could beat each other.

4th is going to be tough but it's certainly achievable. We've got a decent squad thats still gelling and everyone bar City look vunerable in one way or another.

You could make a case for any team out of us, Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal to finish wherever in the 3rd - 6th position.

Hopefully Newcastle will start sliding down the table rapidly now. They've pissed me off (or worried me ) recently.

I don't agree that the Mancs are guaranteed 2nd, they look very vulnerable and surely their luck has to run out sooner or later. I'm sure they will have a bad patch in Jan/Feb, hopefully even earlier.

Chelsea look weak too and yes they might buy in January but they don't really have a good track record of their buys in the past few seasons.

Spurs and Arsenal are going through good patches but Arsenal doesn't have enough depth to last the full season IMO and I think Spurs will go through a bad patch.

We are starting to look good in defense, touch wood, midfield certainly isn't weak IMO, although I admit it's not the strongest it's ever been. Attack on paper should be very strong but we aren't finishing. It will happen and when it happens everyone will be in awe of us because the goals will flood in once we get ticking.

I also think we'll make at least one big signing in January. Not sure if it will be midfield or attack but we'll make at least one big purchase and maybe one or 2 others too.

I think City will win the league but I think everything else is up for grabs.
