It opened up beautifully for him though, so at 2-0 you can understand why he hit it. If it had of been Carroll in the same position and he laid it off, I imagine people would be saying he should have had the balls to hit it.
Adam's entitled to hit it but having made the decision not to put it on a plate for the Jonj, Adam has to score. By not scoring, it opens up the fact that he made the wrong decision.

Good result, well played. It's really nice us play this attacking, fluid game. Haven't seen us play like this since Roy Evans.

Just be thankful Villa are so **** from set pieces
That's the only worry but it's the same consistent problem for us. Despite numerous chances, we couldnt score from open play.

Woodwork twice (regular occurance) but the fact is, time and time again, we miss the target, whether that be hitting the woodwork or blazing over, it's still missing the target courtesy of inadequate finishing. Needs addressing in January.

We've played like that more often than not under Kenny.

Sorry, don't think I can write a proper reply after that. Besides, nothing anyone says can convince me that Adams wasn't fully entitled to take the shot on.

Entitled to take it on, but having decided to take a complete sitter away from a team mate (the Jonj ), he HAS to score.

Yes, I sure when Adams watches MOTD 2, he'll be disappointed with himself.

Liverpool Player Opta Stats Vs Aston Villa

So Liverpool FC win back to back Premier League games for the first time in three months and it was total domination at Villa Park. This win marked Liverpool’s 6th away win of the season and their excellent run away from Anfield continues.

Stewart Downing was the most accurate passer of the game for Liverpool with a 93%, whilst defensively Martin Skrtel continued his excellent form this season winning all of his tackles, 80% of ground duels (50-50′s) and all of his aerial duels too (not forgetting his excellent headed goal). It was quite surprising that Daniel Agger had a contrasting afternoon winning no duels at all even though he looked very comfortable in the game itself.

The Liverpool central midfield won all of their tackles although their duel win percentage was pretty low and they only created one chance between them. The majority of chances came from the wide players and striker. Craig Bellamy, Luis Suarez & Stewart Downing created 9 chances between them with Bellamy creating four and getting an assist. Bellamy’s delivery was brilliant all game with his corners testing Aston Villa at every opportunity. Out of Bellamy’s seven crosses – 43% of them found a fellow red whilst only 20% of Downing’s five crosses were accurate.

Luis Suarez came alive in the second half hitting the woodwork twice and he gave the Villa defenders a torrid time whilst he was on the pitch in the second period. Jonjo Shelvey had the most shots in the game (five) and 40% of them were accurate and also kept the ball well with an 83% pass accuracy. A good start from the young midfielder although he can improve on winning his duels/tackles (as shown in the image above).

Glen Johnson deserves a mention as a stand out player for Liverpool as he won 100% of his tackles, 82% of his duels and had an impressive pass accuracy of 92%. He was the Man of the Match had Bellamy not scored a goal and created one! Glen Johnson also dribbled past his opponents the most beating an Aston Villa player three times, Suarez was next with two.

73 - Since the start of 2008-09, Liverpool have hit the woodwork 73 times in the PL (Arsenal 2nd with 62, Chelsea 3rd with 56). Framed.

Thats what I meant. King Kenny has returned our old style of play.

Well to the style of play he used to play with us in his first spell as manager, before Kenny, our style was not dissimilar from Rafa's, control possession and if need be simply grind teams down.

We haven't shown a lack of back bone and shoddy enough defending to be like Evan's sides.

What pleased me most was how easy the win was. Our defensive strength is a great platform to build on.

Usual failings in front of goal still apply though!

We also dont have the clinical finishing quality of Roy Evans' sides.
