It's also no coincidence that seemingly every keeper has a blinder against us. Every single keeper.
Yup, bottom of the league without a win away from home, a make-shift defence and *another* reserve goalie who has a worldie.

The latter being almost a given.

Aye, to me, it's a combination of **** player and tactics not perfect. The management must see these stats and work on making it better, so that he can get out of his rut instead of hoping he will. I mean, he's ****ing picked every single game!!

Downing hasn't been constantly ****, he's been consistently average.

Larssons deliver and set pieces are outstanding.

And yeh looks a serious bummer of a buy, i just hope Kenny stops playing him from the start

Downing just seems to have become and easy target, I'm not saying he doesn't deserve critisism, he has been poor, he does. I just think people are a little over the top, and a little quick to point out when he does something bad, but don't acknowledge when he does something good. I thought he put at least 4 good crosses in second half, most of which went unmentioned, but as soon as he hit a poor one people were posting 'Downing is ****', or 'Downing can't cross' type comments.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Watch Blackburn lose 3 or 4 nil next week away to manure reserves. There are sadly still miles ahead of us quality wise.

Matt Jarvis for less than half the money would have offered just as much as Downing.

It's a poor stat, but the assists aren't his fault. He's put some great crosses in this season, but the strikers haven't finished them (we might like him to do it more often but that's another point), I remember him putting in 4 good crosses in the second half today.

I've been critical of Downing, never thought he was up to much before he joined us, yet alone fill that LM problem position that we've been looking to sort out for about a decade now.

Said it before, IMO he'll just be another stop gap, in a list of stop gaps for that LM position. We have wasted tens of millions of that position, the fact that we have got it wrong time and time again, is so frustrating!

Downing played on the right today, and thats where he always looks especially poor.

He kept on giving the ball away, many of which were under no pressure, I like Enrique but his decision making skills leave a lot to be desired, in that sense he reminds me a lot of Riise.
                          We come not to play.

I agree with most of the things you post mate, but Downing has only Downing to blame for his performances IMO.

He's a big boy, he needs to man up!! Sounds harsh but he's is far to timid/placid/wimpy to make it at this level. His mentality is a major problem for him and us, he needs to take responsibility and not leave it to others to make things happen IMO. 0 goals and 0 assists... well there's no hiding from that, has to change that quick smart!

He's a better player than Riise.

Nah, I'm with Exiled_Red on this one.

I think his strike against Sunderland goes in and a we put away a few of the chances he has put on a plate and his stats look more fitting of a £20m player. As his confidence dropped, so did his willing to run with the ball and he kept it simple with little adventure.

I thought today, he seemed to have that directness back - although granted, the final ball was lacking, but once he scoffs one in and he provides a few assists and he'll grow into his time with us, probably becoming a squad player.

I don't think he's been ****, he's just been average - nothing more, nothing less. And to be honest, it wasn't something the majority didn't expect.
