Why does Spearing deserve it? He did a poor job at covering in his last game.

We have no other options for a holding midfielder and with Lucas out then he deserves a run in the team to show whether he is good enough. He stepped out to the plate last season and had some good performances when we needed it the most. For that reason, he deserves it.

I quite like that team personally. Most players are playing in their true positions, and Henderson should do ok on the right again.(assuming 4-42) More confident seeing the line up than before.

He was ok, but only alongside Lucas, he certainly hasn't shown anything to be a starter, especially after being so ineffectual against a Fulham team who are far from great.

Being the only option in the position is a worrying sign for the squad.

Exactly as I predicted.

Would prefer obviously to see Gerrard but it's still too early for entire 90 minutes.

Expect to see him in the second half.
