    Summer purchases

Not sure whether to discuss this somewhere else (feel free to delete or move)

i think it was lec or someone else who said (at the time) that we had bought players who had been the leading creaters of chances for their teams.

Now i like many thought we could have bought better quality for the same money (however not sure if that applies to the wages we have forked out) and taking into account our lack of European football i still thought there was some better quality out there.

anyway the real point of this thread is that well actually we bought players who create chances and we are creating chances. So i suppose that means there has been some success to the purchaces. Now we need to buy players who have a good conversion rate.

But essentially you are correct. I think I am about the only supporter of LFC who is not worried. We are creating a **** load of chances every game. As deluded as I may sound, I firmly believe we are a striker away from being title challengers. Just 1 god damn striker, a lethal mother ****er. Like the Torres of old - that ******* is gone and I'm sure there is another ******* out there. I am excited. We pass and move well, our defence is the most perfect I've see in 18 years of supporting this club. Our midfield whilst not as great as the one from 4 years ago, is IMO more attacking and simply needs a striker to compliment it.

We bought players with high creation rate, but not great assist levels. It could suggets poor forward play, but it can equally suggest that the chances are not as good as they should be. I think it should be pointed out that the two with the highest chance creation rate, Downing and Henderson (both of whom had a low % of assists) spent half a season with Darren Bent and still managed a low rate of created chance conversion.

We scored a **** load of goals under Kenny last season without a genuine striker, Meireles, Kuyt, Maxi and Suarez was our attacking unit. That unit was dismantled and replaced with inferior players in Carroll, Downing, Henderson and Adam who all went straight into the first team this season and now we can't buy a goal.
Yes we need another striker but the real problem is that we have so little real quality and flair going forward. If we buy the right players in January (foreign) and if Stevie can stay fit then we will start scoring goals no problem.

We brought the likes of Downing/Hendo in to improve/increase production, thus far that has not being the case.

It shouldn't crack. It must be cheap leather. Or perhaps you shouldn't drape it over a warm radiator.

It's only the lining that distinguishes a dried out leather jacket from a very large piece of these bad boys.

                      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Kenny bought the likes of Adam, Hendo and Downing to help us create more goal scoring chances, which is what they did.

Our problem is the lack of clinical finisher to put those away.

But other strikers never finished the chances these Downing and Henderson created either, the % of the chances the created that was converted was very low. Maybe the chances they create aren't actually that good.

Meireles had a higher chances created per minute rate than Adam.

Last season, Maxi and Kuyt were involved in the creation and scoring of 10 more goals than Downing and Henderson.

Would be interested to see what our chance creation stats were in the last 10 or so games at the end of last season. Not convinced there has been such a huge improvement.

Jury is still out big time on Downing IMO. Adam has been decent and Henderson steady and tidy.
