I agree with regards Dirk, wonder if thats why the link with Kranjčar has cropped up, not overly impressed with the link but would he provide better quality from the right than Dirk?

IMO that's why it's so important to have Maxi and Bellamy in there, movement and guile, both make great runs beyond the forwards and into the opposition box, makes sense the more people in teh box the better chance we have of scoring, which is a wee bit of an issue currently.
Dont see how tactics help finishing

They might help you create more chances etc...,

It wont help your players score from 2 or 3 yards out which quite a few of them have failed to do this season

Is anyone telling me that if we had Rush (in his prime) upfront in this system we wouldnt have put those chances away?

He'd have at least 10 league goals by now

Niko does not play on the right. He usually plays on the left and likes to cut inside.

Niko is a decent footballer but he is not LFC quality and i would pass.

ahhhh you're right he does play on the left.

The link makes no sense then! If I am honest it's up top and probably someone to fill in for Lucas that most concerns me at the moment.

I'm telling you chaps, the goals will come a flowing soon I can feel it!

Nothing like a good late night Friday fixture for that to happen!

              C'mon the ****ing goals!!

Fair points, my point about Adam is he has lovely left foot capable of making things happen, i'd rather have him closer to goal rather than closer to our box, as he is a liability defensively.

And Maxi doesn't get enough game time for me, he makes much more positive runs and is much more dangerous than Downing. Also Carroll needs to stop dropping deep, the more time he spends in teh box, surely the better chance he has of scoring? Suarez drifts a bit too much also but he can make things happen.

                IMO reasonable and valid points.

Ah come on Dan, stop this now. I remember the good old days when Shaggy and I would keep trying to explain how good Maxi was for us, and you'd just disagree and slag him off.

Bring back the good old days

Carroll missed 3 easy chances in the last game (ok 2 because one was a good save)

So that shows hes getting on the end of things

You have to be in there to get them

My problem isnt with their runs and generally isnt with their positiional play

Its that they miss the vast majority of chances presented to them

We actually play decent football but our lack of finishing is almost solely why we're not right up there in the mix at the moment. Just watched a video of the times we've hit the woodwork this season and some of them are astonishing that we've not scored from but we are getting in positions to put the ball in the net and at some point they'll drop in rather than not.

I wonder how different things may have been for big Andy if his opening day goal wasnt wrongly ruled out. He would've got straight off with a goal and his confidence would've been sky-high.

Its not just Carroll missing them though

Suarez has missed a hatful of easy chances as well

Same for Suarez vs Sunderland too, with the missed peno.

yup, little things can have a huge baring on how things pan out for you. Your buddy Joey Cole last season with the sending off at Arsenal could have turned out differently for us (obviously the Hodgefactor was also a massive issue)

Carroll tonight has got to handle the boo's he's going to get and show what he can do for us, tough ask but he needs a big performance for us but mostly for himself and against his former club is a bloody good place to start!
