We need to get more players into the box regardless of whether we cross the ball alot or however we play.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Maxi should be starting at the moment

well to be fair dan, you mentioned shocking management and named 3 players. now you're saying the issue was maxi instead of downing. I actually think the movement downing made for the early chance was great and he hit the target, the keeper did great by coming out early, its not like he scuffed it wide. his head dropped after that and his lack of form is obviously affecting him. he's not a great player, but he's much better than this. he's just very low on confidence hence the giving it to someone else all the time.

Downing should never start for us, Kenny has issues with Maxi so it seems
Oh come on Dan, the inference in "shocking management" was that they should have started. Bringing them on a few minutes after you thought he should have, when we were pretty likely to have lost the game anyway, is hardly "shocking". Fans of every club constantly shout at managers to make subs at half time, but barring injury or really poor performance they very rarely do. Very rarely. There must be a reason for that don't you think?

So easy for us looking on, he's the one with the fitness info though. "Shocking" management would be playing either or both when they aren't able to, leading to injuries etc. What's more important, Gerrard available for the rest of the season, or starting him in one game?

Maxi instead of Downing I'll give you obviously
They're on the bench Mike, so they'd need to be used if needed. So what would we have done if Carroll got injured after 5 mins? NOT brought Bellers on? Or if Adam had got crocked early, not brought on SG?

I understand your point but it points to us only having 4 outfield subs for the first half - do you think Kenny would go into a game choosing to only have 4 outfield subs for the first half? Sounds far fetched to me mate.

Granted 'shocking management' is the usual kind of hyperbole from that source.

Well if Gerrard for 1 was at completely optimum fitness he'd obviously be starting. I'm sure both of them could have played in the scenarios you describe, but ideally they wouldn't. Anyway, that's apparently not what Dan was trying to say anyway so.....
