Second half in the league game was a training match, they just boot the ball into the air away from their area, we pick it up again, try to build another attack - then it breaks down and they boot the ball in the air again.

Seriously vile 'football'. Sure you're happy to be winning and doing as well as you've done, but watching that would have me removing my eyeballs and chucking them at the manager's head.

Tell you what Craig - I certainly wouldn't pay for a season's worth of what your lot served up last night.

What? A 1-0 win at the home of the league leaders? Yea. **** that for a game of soldiers.
      *Except Michael, who died.

Yeah but it was winning boring which is what PotterLog got comments on. We can't can't say that we can't stand play like that and then change the tune when we do.

Fair play to both I say, sometimes it needs to be done and with all respect to Stoke this will be more frequently required for them than it will us.

          I don't see the similarities.

We parked the bus 2nd half after passing them off the pitch 1st half.

Stoke don't park the bus. They just launch it and play a percentage game - throw ins, hoofed set pieces into the six yard box etc.

Parking the bus as we did 2nd half is not the same as the physical, percentage-based hoof game Stoke play.

Indeed ....don't really think there's a direct comparison to be made (between us last night and Stoke in general) though.

it's quite clear that our stokie is just taking the piss out of craig h and winning, so for that reason alone I agree 100% with him

Absolutely, just thought it was a bit much telling PotterLog that they play dreadful football that you wouldn't want to pay to watch. Bit insulting coming from a Liverpool fan which is really a pretty much a position of luxury.

Exactly. As you say, we passed City off the park for 45 minutes.

                      Stoke dont pass....full stop.

Why was it a bit much for telling the truth?

I made no references to positions, whether or luxury or 'poverty'. Just that i find their football dreadful to watch and would never pay to watch that style of 'football' week in, week out. Painful.

Eyup again... I see some knickers are getting twisted and hands are being wrung over whether you were "boring" last night or not... (you were)

Embrace it scousers! You won at the league leaders and you did it bloody boringly. Congratulations (seriously) .

Point of order by the way, which may or may not be relevant, but the way we play against the top six (especially away) and the way we play against the rest is very different. I think that sometimes skews people's opinions of our style of play - especially when they support clubs like yours and only see us in backs-to-the-wall-hit-and-hope mode.

Nothing getting twisted - you're just missing the point. My dislike of Stoke's football isnt about it being boring. It's about it being pure percentage hoofball, requiring no skill or talent, just a bit of luck, the ball falling your way and 'law of averages'. And i've not only seen Stoke play against top six sides

I'm sure i'm not in a tiny minority of football supporters who thinks Stoke play dire stuff and are terrible to watch. If you're happy with the football you play and paying to watch it, there's no problem and nothing to worry about.

FYI, i actually dont wish your team any ill feeling, i think you're doing well to be what's effectively the 8th (or so) positioned side in the league and i commend the progress you've made in terms of being a newly promoted club not so long ago, to where you are now. It's not easy to survive in the PL as a newly promoted club, let alone establish yourselves as a PL team and now, a top half one.

I just wouldnt want to watch it often

Tbh, i thought we played fine in the first half, went out and played to win, got the lead and decided to stick, it's the first of a two leg tie, semi final, it's what teams do.

Hardly a comparison of what Stoke are accused of, is it, so i don't really see the connection.

Fair play to you Potterlog for not rising to Craigs (and others) bait. Stoke are doing extremely well and good on you. Punching well above your weight.

There's more than one way to win a football match, and if it really was as simple as all that you'd have plenty of clubs doing it.
