Yep. Why don't the commentators or press ever say anything about it? It's increasingly commonplace.

Obviously it was a great result, and we all would have taken that before the game. But I was pretty surprised at how we set up with 30 - 35 mins of the second half left to go. We were looking to play on the counter, and I thought we were looking pretty dangerous. Then, by the 60th min we abandoned even that and pretty much everyone retreated to our final third.

Sometimes the best form of defence is attack. I think leaving Bellamy on to play on the shoulder of the last defender would at least have given the City team something to think about, in so far as conceeding possession is concerned at least! Because we were so, so defensive they were free to be as gung ho as they liked.

City were gash last night, and I can't help but think that our tactical rethink let them back into the game. The players didn't even seem to know what they were doing or where they should be playing at one point! Don't get me wrong, it was a great result, and the end has justified the means. But if we had conceeded Kenny would have come in for critiscism, and with some justification. It's all very well just looking at the result and ignoring everything else. But I think that's being somewhat narrow minded.

Great result nonetheless. Carroll was utter, utter ****e. At one stange he was just running in a straight line and tripped over himself. Laughably bad. His distribution was also very poor. He really needs to up his game for us, because right now he is nowhere near good enough.

Or our tactics stopped one of the strongest home teams in Europe from creating any clear cut chances? Last time they failed to score at home before last night was over a year ago.

I personally think opening up more with Gerrard, Adam and Henderson in central midfield would have been suicidal but it's each to their own I guess. With no defensive midfielder and Carroll up top I think we played exactly the right way.

          Glen Johnson was brilliant but....
When played at right back he cuts back and puts in crosses off his left foot, play him at left back and he goes down the outside and crosses with his weaker left foot.

          ****ing mental.

Focus on the 50 positive things instead of the 2 negative is all I can say, and football is so much more enjoyable

I thought the same. Losing Spearing was a huge blow and we completely changed how we played after Adam came in.

I do worry about that midfield partnership if Spearing is not ready soon and a defensive mid as a must for us to cover in this transfer window.

That's the one....there's a great shot of it on the reverse angle of the tackle.

Exactly like Rooney, who explained his exploits by saying he wasn't waving an imaginary card.........as if running to the ref with signalling two fingers is just to get a FK.

Our fixtures for Feb/beginning of March are:

                  6 Feb 2012 Tottenham H 20:00
                  11 Feb 2012 Man United A 12:45
                  25 Feb 2012 Everton H 12:45
                  3 Mar 2012 Arsenal H 15:00

If we get through to the final the Everton game would obviously be moved, but what a made run of games

Tough schedule but we play 3 out of those 4 at home and if we want to get into top 4 we'll need to win them all at home.

Giving teams a chance to regroup and fight another day is dangerous; we haven't got a big lead and the tie is far from over.
My opinion too, strike while the iron is hot. We may end up regretting a wasted opportunity and we aint that special at home this season.

However losing spearing made it hard for us to control the midfield.

We didnt waste an opportunity though really, we won away to a team who hardly ever lose at home. I think it's underrating City to assume we just had to attack more and we'd have won 2-0. Could easily have gone 1-1 or worse.

Now all we've got to do is repeat what we've done all season which is not lose at home.

Why have you linked a 2 hour long clip as a reply to my answer? Curious, and don't have time to watch it

i thought Carra may as well not have come on at all. I'd prefer to see Coates on the bench at this stage instead of Carragher....i think he has lost his legs to be honest.....
