OMG this is brilliant news, I was genuinly really depressed when we got knocked out as I'd followed it from the beginning and was really enjoying it. Where do the semis get played? How about the final?

It's such a strange competition. Sporting were the best team in the competition battering us out of sight, they get knocked out by Inter who were spanked 7-1 by Spurs. We dominate Spurs and do everyything but score and they knock us out only for us to get re-instated

I think we could win it, Barca and Ajax aren't that strong.

Have you seen Barca/Ajax? I thought they were supposed to be the best outfit? If not then I'm glad we're back as its definitely on merit. Need to change our goalie and defender though.

I've seen every team in the competition play at least once.

Barca were in the group with Man City who were by far the worst team in the competition. They also lost 4-2 to Marseille who are still in the competition.

Ajax finished below Villa and had pretty similar results to ourselves.

I would have said the top teams order was: Sporting, Tottenham and Barca in that order and you saw what we did to Tottenham (ok we did lose but we battered them for a good 50% of that game).

good news because we should have trounced spurs.

The ineligible player is the lad who scored the goal. Apparently he's 90 and had to remove his falsies before playing which he did. Surprisingly nobody picked up on this before the game despite several close ups of his missing gnashers.

barca would be a dream for borrell and segura but maybe a step too far for our lads. For now this is good news.

How on earth could Sporting be knocked out if they were that far the best team? Boggles the mind. Anyway, encouraging that we could actually win it. Some players have finally adjusted and are showing confidence at last (Sterling/Suso mainly).

Defo going to Anfield for the semi. Hopefully we can get 10k in or something, especially if its Barca.

Is the semi two legs then?

Oh okay, so I assume we know already that it will be at Anfield?

Spurs were at home to the winners of the Barca match so I'd have thought so.

                            Reds back in NextGen Series

Liverpool's U19 team were today reinstated into the NextGen Series after Tottenham Hotspur withdrew from the competition.

The young Reds lost 1-0 in the quarter-final stage at White Hart Lane earlier in the week but will now take their place in the last four of the tournament.

A statement released by Next Gen this morning reads as follows:

Cycad Enterprises, the organisers of the NextGen Series Tournament, has today announced the withdrawal of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club from the competition, following the Club making them aware of an inadvertent breach of a competition regulation.

Tottenham Hotspur's Director of Football Administration, Darren Eales said: "It is with regret that we have decided to withdraw from the semi finals of the NextGen Tournament due to an accidental breach of a competition regulation. We have done so fully respecting the Tournament regulations.

"As a club, we stand for the highest levels of integrity and respect and there was no unfair advantage sought or gained.

"Whilst hugely disappointing for players, staff and supporters, we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support. We would also like to send Liverpool Football Club our very best wishes for the next round of the competition.'

Technical Co-Ordinator and Manager of the Club's NextGen side Tim Sherwood said: "It was obviously disappointing when this was brought to my attention. It is, however, all about the development of players and individual talent so the most disappointing aspect for us is that we will not be able to play another game at such a competitive level this season. The tournament has given us a great opportunity to see the best of other footballing cultures and many of our squad have proved that they are as good as any in Europe."

A NextGen spokesperson said; "Following conversations with senior Tottenham Hotspur officials we have agreed to accept their withdrawal from the semi final stages of the event. This is hugely unfortunate and we are sorry to see that such a hard fought encounter as witnessed at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night should have this conclusion. However, we can only applaud the Club for demonstrating such impeccable levels of sportsmanship and for acting in a manner which recognises the good spirit of both the Tournament and the game itself. We thank both clubs for their help and support in making this first year of the event such a success and we look forward to welcoming Liverpool to the semi-finals."

Liverpool will now face the winners of the FC Barcelona versus Ajax encounter which takes place on February 8 2012.

That`S the price you pay when you get harry to write the teamsheet.
Well done to Spurs to owning up, espesially if the organizers hadn`t spotted it.
