We have to win this. Its not Fa and League cups that will attract top players, or persuade Reina and Suarez that this club means business. They are nice distractions for the real prize - Champions League football. For the players its prestiege, and for the club its cash. Everything is a means to an end - the end being winning the league. Neither cup is really a steeping stone to that. If any player cant raise their game for the game tonight, I would throw him out before the window shuts.

There were reports he came off on Saturday because of a slight injury, more of a precaution than anything I think. So he probably won't be involved tonight.

I think we can only look at Joe Cole in hindsight, he was dire in the time he spent here, letting him go was the right decision at the time. I'm not sure the same is true of Aquilani
