Carroll finally looking like the player I thought we had signed.

Still has a poor first touch, bit slack in his passing and not amazingly mobile.

BUT, he is looking big and powerful in the air and is getting in the right positions should we swing some quality balls in.

As has already been said, someone like Gerrard, or maybe even Suarez if played close to Carroll, would be looking at a brace of goals in this game already.

A great 45 mins from Carroll, following on a good performance against the mancs. Not spectacular - and maybe I'm going overboard with "great" - but a massive improvement.
    Forwards.......

we look good all over the pitch as per usual, nice interceptions, nice passing and then the force field kicks in and we haven't got a clue how to get round it. the players, all of them, continue to make the wrong choices. they have no clue how to create a goal. why not flood the box? utd when all theirs are fit, do this and year in year out they're at the top of the scoring charts. rocket science?
But Wolves have scored as many as we have this season. That is a serious concern.

Spearing is ok, but he isn't positionally good enough to be an effect holding mid, means he is on the stretch too often.

We don't look great and they have had the best chances.

Bellamy has been a bit greedy once or twice when both Kuyt and Carroll had been in acres of space in the box.
I thought that Hendo had a very good half.

Was everywhere, left, right, in the box and had some very nice passes.

One aspect of the game that I really hope he works in the off season is taking a man.

If he can do that he would be much, much better player.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

That is because it is easier to look good in a team like Blackpool than with us and he wasn't great in the second half of last season at all.

Is it? I always play better when I'm in a better team.
                Oh I don't know.

But he is what he is. What do you propose?

Buying someone and dropping Adam for Spearing.

He had a free role at Blackpool and everything went through him. At Liverpool he is asked to play a deeper role. He is far better defensively this season than he ever was at Blackpool, he was a liability at times for them and relied too much on Vaughan to get him out of trouble.

But he expended less energy going back and so was more effective going forward.

Henderson and Bellamy were star men for me. Henderson with his vision, passing and getting into space. Bellamy for the zip in his play, running at opponents and getting into space too.

Carroll seems to be getting an awful lot of praise across the web. Puzzles me. I thought his positioning has been poor. Service has been terrible, but we can't just ping it into the box all the time.

But we haven't played to his strengths - no decent crosses for him to actually attack. If we are going to float balls in to him we need to get bodies round about him for the inevitable lay-offs.

With some players, yes, especially attacking players. Teams play very different tactics v us than they did v Blackpool and it has seriously exposed Adams weaknesses.

Corrected that small bit for you !!!

Granted he's been tidy but if he's supposedley the player to support Carroll, he isn't doing it.
For me I'd hook Adam, stick on Downing and push Bellamy or Kuyt alongside Carroll
I make no apologies, this is me
