I know a few people that have bumped into him on a night out in Cardiff that might disagree with that assessment.
      Oh I don't know.

I dont understand the whole national anthem thing. Its not like you get each respective countries national anthems in the Champions League final. So why the League cup.

Cardiff play in the English league. So the Welsh one would be out of place anyway.

It"s a club game, no idea why anthems would be part of it anyway.

Have they played the English national anthem at English cup finals before, is it the norm ?

If not, what the hell are they on about saying it's cancelled due to fear of booing ?

Fans will be singing their own club anthems anyway!

They do for the FA cup. So Id assume they do for the League cup. Its like the pre-match handshakes. No point to it really.

                      re national anthems

one of the times at cardiff - can't remember which one - I had a mate at cardiff uni for pretty much 2001 through to 2007, so went to all the finals there, sometimes had tickets sometimes just went anyway....

So one of them, three of us didn't have tickets so we went to the big pub opposite ground think it was a huge wetherspoons to watch it...

It was full of welsh lfc/cardiff fans.....

God Saved the queen started, and literally about 150 people out 200 packed in....All sat down - left about 50 of us dotted about standing there like....er **** wtf as all those sitting down started booing and then chanting "WALES...WALES"
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Ah, that'll be it then, i expect Cardiff wanted the Welsh anthem played along with the English one, i suppose they very much feel like they're representing Wales.

People can argue the why's and wherefore's of having a Welsh team in an English league, but the fact remains that they are Welsh, so 'it's not unusual' they would want to do this is suppose.

Club anthems for me all the way though.

Talking of anthems and walking on to the pitch etiquette - why have we started wearing tracksuit tops when coming out on to the pitch during league games? I mean, it's very 80's and very aces!

I guess it's the simple answer. Ta

I think it's aces - I used to wear my tracksuit top when going on to the park to play football and neatly lay it down as a goalpost.
