And I think the season in general has shown it is very much as bad as that. We are a good distance from good enough.
As usual you seem to miss out chances

Kuyt had a great chance which he hit the post with, Suarez also had a great chance first half which he hit the post with (in addition to his solo effort)

We need not have gone ahead and tried for the obvious - Falcao, Mata, Hazard etc. We were bound to fail due to the lack fo CL and inability to offer City style wages.

What we needed to do was to show a little bit of innovation, a little bit of creativity and inspiration in our scouting. For example Reina, Garcia, Arbeloa , Hyppia - relatively unnown and was a massive success.

I thought that was Commoli's and his bunch of merry scouts role. We have been so uncreative and uininspiring in our attacking purchases that it is mindboggling (To be fair that was an issue before this reign also).

We have full time scouts, an army of them. Do we really need their services to purchase Carroll, Downing, Henderson, Adam for the prices we paid. I am fairly confident if John Henry had approached est1892 and started four threads, we would have been able to provide an accurate description of their strengths and weaknesses by watching match videos over a weekend.

This summer we are still going to find it difficult to attract the top level talent due to lack of CL. That does not mean we should go and blow the transfer money on Darren Bent. There is a big market of players outside of top level and mediocre British talent which can be exploited if we do our scouting properly.

I thought we were fantastic. Arsenal were never really in the game. We were out numbered in midfield, but we dominated it and created countless chances, enough to win 4 games.

We hit the woodwork twice, had a pen save as well as a certain goal from the follow up. Suarez nearly scored goal of the season, Downing should have squared for a Suarez tap in, whilst Kelly missed an open goal.

Arsenal? An ambitious strike out wide from Walcott and a late blast from Ox. Oh, and the RVP show.

All we lack tbh, is a player with the movement & finishing skills of RVP. I wonder where we could have been had Torres stayed put & recovered his form.

All in all, I don't think I've ever been so frustrated watching LFC as I have this season. We are a really good side. But if you miss pens, and hit the woodwork instead of the back of the net, it'll cost you.

This is an appalling league performance this season in relation to the outlay and value of the squad in comparison to those we find ourselves around.

We're 27 points off the top ffs, no knee jerking here, 27 points off the top in March!
And we're nine points off Aston Villa and seventeen points off Blackburn.

The reason we have a league table is to put us in a league position, in which we are seventh. If we were fourth and Everton were one point off us in fifth, we wouldn't even be talking about it.

We are seventh and we need to look up, we are ten points from fourth with a game in hand. Our upcoming fixtures are Sunderland and QPR away, Everton and Wigan at home with a quarter final in the middle.

How many chances did we create for Suarez today? How is being 4 points ahead of Norwich good enough? We have spent a lot on players who are simply too limited for us and have very little in terms of goals, we had 2 players on the bench in fact that had more goals each than our entire midfield. We added a good LB and a good but ageing attacker, the rest is far from being good enough. We could have achieved the LC last season without Roy and we went out the FA cup to a dive for a pen. We have spent a lot of money to go sideways.
You clearly are blinkered because you brush over clear cut chances in games

We had tons of chances today

Even Van Persie has said Arsenal didnt deserve to win

Our cup exploits have masked over our very poor league form.

Think you've summed up a number of posts in this thread really well.

I'm still scratching my head as to how we lost that game. There were moments in the game when Rosicky and Song found lots of space in the middle of the park which showed how much we missed Lucas. Spearing was superb in winning the ball back and doing the pressing work.

I haven't read all the posts.....

To be honest okay, I think all we are missing is ONE top player......one guy that can put chances away....imagine the goals fowler would have scored in this team.... I like the attacking mentality.....we were fockin robbed today to be honest......if we had a benzema, a Higuain or a Villa up front then we'd have ****in killed them.....

Also, everyone blows on and on about Suarez but for me he is more guilty than a lot of other players.....he causes havoc etc but his end product is as much use as tits on a nun....and has been for most of the season (the other part he has been banned) also, I don't like his attitude problem....he slated Kelly a few times today, but in reality what Martin needed was words of encouragement...... People think he is world class.....I'm no t so sure....he has unbelievable talent....that weaving run he made was brilliant but a truly world class player would have ****in buried it......

For the rest of the season, I think Kenny should use the games to assess if Carroll is ever going to make it.....I'd like to see Gerrard play on the right side of midfield, downing on he left, and Carroll up top.....basically whip ball after ****in ball into the box from good positions (as opposed to carra style lumps) and just give him the game time......I'd nearly play him pretty much every minute and rotate Suarez, Kuyt and Bellamy between the other striker position and also on the left of a front 3......

If andy is still **** at the end of the year, then cut the ****er loose in the summer....take the hit and sign someone else....

I know he is a cunt, but maybe el niƱo could make a comeback....we might be able to get him for a song . I think if he had a point to prove back at anfield you never know he mit be worth the risk

Wasn't Commoli supposed to be good at this? I thought that was part of the reason why we brought him in.

We're not though and neither are they.

The point is that we're competing against several sides with squads costing far far less than ours, and that is a complete and utter failure. We should be nowhere near them and far closer to the top than 27 points. Its a disgrace.
