I think the critisism of Carragher is a little harsh I don't think his defending was particularly poor, it was just good centre forward play from van Persie.

Great post and good honest assessment rather than the kneejerk drivel we have to wade through on each post match thread after we havent wonOriginally posted by James P View PostIf van Persie played for us, I think we would win the title.
Gutted at the result, thought we played some great football and were by far the better team, and that was without Lucas, Gerrard, Agger and Johnson. On that performance we're a goal poacher away from being genuine contenders.
Positives? Jay played well, as did Henderson. Kelly is quality and should free Johnson up to play a more advanced role. Suarez is coming back to form. Dirk had a good game.
Negatives? Carra has lost it. Pepe got beaten at his near post. Suarez still wants to hog it too much and throws himself to the floor far too often. Adam has very little game intelligence and only looks up when he's not moving. The goals are still six inches too narrow. Kenny's tactical substitutions are still questionable.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Suarez had a couple of them today and missed (well hit the post with one)Originally posted by Mattshark View PostHow often do we make chances like RVP's winner?Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I believe Downing, Adam, Henderson and Enrique were or first choice targets
Did we enquire about the availability of Mata, only to be put off my his potential wage demands, therefore, not putting an official bid in?

Spot onOriginally posted by James P View PostWould RVP have scored Kelly's chance? Yes. Would he have scored the penalty? Almost certainly. Would he have scored Henderson's chance in the first half? Yes. Would he have as low a conversion rate as Suarez? No chance. Would he have got on the end of one of our 14 corners today? Almost certainly.
We've made dozens of chances this year, many of which RVP would have taken.
Look at it the other way around - would any of our strikers have scored RVP's winner? No.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

We're behind Newcastle (after taking away two of their best players to the tune of £42m, 3 points above Stoke, 4 points above West Brom and Norwich and 5 above Everton whose squad cost about 12 pence. This is an appalling league performance this season in relation to the outlay and value of the squad in comparison to those we find ourselves around.Originally posted by gentingfrmhell View Postwe are 3 points above stoke!
We're 27 points off the top ffs, no knee jerking here, 27 points off the top in March!Last edited by Suarez; 03-03-12, 06:29 PM.

You dont need one on onesOriginally posted by Mattshark View PostYeah he may have, we still don't create good chances for our forwards often enough though, no matter what excuses we make though we didn't make a chance like that for Suarez and we don't make enough good chances in general, we do make a lot of difficult chances that we don't quite convert. Our midfield is lacks real creativity.
How many 1v1's do we make?
How often does Suarez have to make his own chances?
We are far from good enough attacking in midfield.
We are missing clear cut chances and have been ALL season
Van Persie is clinical he bags efforts that our forwards frequently fluffBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Well both players hit the post on chances that were more difficult to miss and that equally a top quality finisher would have lapped up (just like Van Persie showed today)Originally posted by Mattshark View PostSo, how many chances did we as a team make for Suarez and Kuyt in this game?Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. One MASSIVE positive from today...Luis looks like his old self again. He was a threat every time he got the ball and was genuinely unlucky not to have scored a couple himself today. What a run that was and it deserved a goal.
