If van Persie played for us, I think we would win the title.

Gutted at the result, thought we played some great football and were by far the better team, and that was without Lucas, Gerrard, Agger and Johnson. On that performance we're a goal poacher away from being genuine contenders.

Positives? Jay played well, as did Henderson. Kelly is quality and should free Johnson up to play a more advanced role. Suarez is coming back to form. Dirk had a good game.

Negatives? Carra has lost it. Pepe got beaten at his near post. Suarez still wants to hog it too much and throws himself to the floor far too often. Adam has very little game intelligence and only looks up when he's not moving. The goals are still six inches too narrow. Kenny's tactical substitutions are still questionable.

We didn't approach Mata though and he cost Chavs as much Downing cost us in fees and wages.

You'd hope so, but Mata (or his agent/dad) mentioned the clubs that approached him, we were not one of them - some itk'a have said the same also.

I believe Downing, Adam, Henderson and Enrique were or first choice targets

Would RVP have scored Kelly's chance? Yes. Would he have scored the penalty? Almost certainly. Would he have scored Henderson's chance in the first half? Yes. Would he have as low a conversion rate as Suarez? No chance. Would he have got on the end of one of our 14 corners today? Almost certainly.

We've made dozens of chances this year, many of which RVP would have taken.

Look at it the other way around - would any of our strikers have scored RVP's winner? No.

Yeah he may have, we still don't create good chances for our forwards often enough though, no matter what excuses we make though we didn't make a chance like that for Suarez and we don't make enough good chances in general, we do make a lot of difficult chances that we don't quite convert. Our midfield is lacks real creativity.

Well both players hit the post on chances that were more difficult to miss and that equally a top quality finisher would have lapped up (just like Van Persie showed today)

One MASSIVE positive from today...Luis looks like his old self again. He was a threat every time he got the ball and was genuinely unlucky not to have scored a couple himself today. What a run that was and it deserved a goal.
