If we could score penalties it would be 5 points, if we win our game in hand it would be 2. Despite our other problems (missing chances hitting the woodwork etc) if we could have just done that then it would have made a huge difference. This is how narrow the margins are.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think he's played so often because Lucas and Gerrard have hardly ever both been available, yes. If both are available and actually fully fit, i dont think Adam would start anywhere near as often.Originally posted by Kenneth View Postright. I thought you said he plays because Gerrard and Lucas are out.

Some interesting analysis. If we could marginally improve the rate we covert chances into goals we'd be doing very well.

CCC are 1. Pens 2. A one-on-one 3. Free header close to goal 4. Shot at very close range 5. Shot with clear line of sight to keeper

So in a sport that has a very low level of scoring, any advantage that you can gain in CCC conversion is important

...steady on the CAPS key...makes a difficultOriginally posted by Redshadow View PostAnd Yet again? The haste to bury us after a bad result shows up Most of our fanbase to be an utter disgrace & Fully deserving of the 'arrogant' tag I applied to us when discussing just Why we should enjoy our Cup win last week. Not learned much in that time have we? We've still won more this season than the less fortunate clubs in this country (yes You Everton & Newcastle well......Shakes head) will have done in the past decade
Just for the record James P? Kuyt scored a goal from a not dissimilar position against the Mancs in the FA Cup to knock them out only a month or so back - The Same Kuyt who was flagged offside only Moments before Van Persie's winning goal today from a position probably Less offside than Kuyt's fellow Dutchman later scored from.
There is one thing as certain others have said here? There is one thing & one Alone missing from our squad other than maybe backup for Lucas who was sorely missed today That is? Of course an ultra clincal finisher (Huntelaar? Soldado? Jovetic?) - People on here & other forums go on about we don't create enough chances - Horse****e - It was even said in this thread we Only created 3 chances for our main strikers - And? That was Still 1 more than Van Persie got & Took & all season? We've created enough to Bury any team in the league & hardly ever took those chances. Yes Goalscoring midfielders will help but I think the sheer crass stupidity of selling Torres last year & buying one with Potential to replace him at a big club rather than a straight out goalscorer has A) Shown Commolli who pushed for it to be Very stupid & B)? Inhibited Dalglish's selections this season as one of our Most reliable goalscorers in the current squad - Rodriguez? For whatever reason (And I suspect it has a Lot to do with That ****ing price tag of Carroll's - Can't get near the starting 11) as well obviously eventually? C) Badly damaging our goal output.
It's nothing a swallowing of pride & moving on or at least sidelining until he learns his trade of Carroll won't solve but then that? Would require both Comolli & The owners to back down & admit last years splurge was Wrong or ended up having the wrong results Something tells me? That may take a while as they? May not be all that keen
to swallow their pride & make the changes necessary - We shall see............
NB I hope Commolli's quote about "no big changes in the summer"? Was meant to be taken as we'll be focusing a Lot on a Few players to solve our glaring deficincies in the team rather than what it sounded suspicously like which was a Houllier-esque attempt to dampen down expectations, retard Any Transfer focused team development or expetation of such & generally defend such inactivity as January's just gone in advance. If it was the latter given the joke that is our home form this season? There should be fcuking murder over what Commolli said - Indeed there probably Will be somewhere down the line if that was the case & rightly so.......rantread.
There was no crass selling of Torres - he wanted to go. Feck him.
We are a work in progress...

But is a 25 yard shot with a clear line to the keeper really that good a chance? Do free headers count if the cross is a bit too high as well? Does very close to goal account for angle or real difficulty of chance?Originally posted by JHP View PostSome interesting analysis. Well whether you view it from my opinion or the view that we are terrible at finishing, in the final third, we sadly, clearly are.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostChrist Matt, you really will clutch at any straw possible in order to be gloomy about everything
We simply MUST be ****, eh? Cant be ANY sense of bad luck about it...

Matt needs to analyse it in such a way that it turns out to just be Kenny's fault and his mistakes.

In terms of finishing, yes. I dont think we're as bad as you make out creatively speaking because i see with my own eyes that in most games, we have created enough to win games if someone had just been a bit clinical.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostWell whether you view it from my opinion or the view that we are terrible at finishing, in the final third, we sadly, clearly are.
