Reds123? Shut up mate - With due respect you're talking absolute rubbish & not the First to do so on forums re us either. Downing? Has set up Plenty of chances for us this season - Not his fault that our forwards contrive increasingly hilarious & soul-destroying ways to miss them, thump them against bar, post, keeper & all points between without hitting the net is it? And Stewart? Was never a big scorer even at his Very best at either Villa or Boro' He got a few goals but that was it & he rarely got into double figures at any of his previous clubs either IIRR. What Downing Did do & what he's started to do now? Is provide width & chances. It's up to the forwards to make the most of that & they? Are patently Not doing their jobs, that much? Is clear to see................

Stewart also & this is far more relevant? Took a couple of seasons to settle in each team which I think he will here - He's been getting better as the months go by & I hardly think He's the worst of our problems - Young isn't much better either however well he did yesterday - He's missed games & goals for the Mancs for months & hardly scored for nearly a year at Villa before leaving so doubt even Had we bought him it would have done much good - There's something wrong in the psyche & mental approach of our club as a whole & has been since Kenny last left. Anyway He's back now & has fixed all bar one problem with us - I Think it's quite clear where we Do have problems no? A couple of adjustments upfront & getting our heads right so we're calm in possession upfront? And we'll be fine but tearing the squad up, firing the manager & starting Yet again? No thanks - After all, we're Not Chelsea...................

I agree with many of your arguments but Downing is good not great! Liverpool need much better winger. Perhaps you forgot Barnes! Also Downing is one track minded and his right foot is atrocious! He has improved yes but he better score a couple of goals. One thing is certain - he is not worth 19 million! Vs Arsenal he was nearly there but i.m sorry, Dalglish should have given a chance to Maxi!

On the other hand, Henderson is young and an intelligent footballer. A good passer and also a good shooter! He can't play on the right side of midfield but Hendo is going to be an excellent midfielder!

Why the **** don't teams stand off against us like they do Man Utd?

It's all fixed I tell you.

Many teams do, but we fail to break them down in the final third.

How many of them are created each game by other clubs??

FACT is we are creating as clear cut chances VERY week that players at Arsenal, Man U, City and dare I say it even Newcastle would have buried

Arsenal match was an exception to recent run. We had more penetration against arsenal and created much better chances than what seems the past few months.

Generally the chances we have been creating are not good enough imo. Even the goal we scored was a fluke because the ball in found the defender and not the attacker.

I'd be interested to see stats for most shots from outside the box.

Did anyone say we didn't play well on Saturday?

They don't it just happens that you agree with what they say at the present time.

I thought we played well, bossed the game. The only downfall is, we can't score, whether thats down to luck or lack of practice, i'm not sure, but I expect Kenny/Damien to put it right in the summer.
I thought it did show us that we are not ready for Champs league football just yet (as much as I want us back in the competition), perhaps UEFA league will be a good learning curve.
The other thing it showed is Carra's finished, he's been a great servant but he can't cut it against a good PL team. Thats another thing I expect Kenny to put right in the summer.
I hate pointing the finger at referess & linesmen but we got some poor decisions on Saturday, i just hope it evens up in the rest of the games. I don't expect us to get into the top4 this year (I'd love it if we did) but i think we have the chance to get 5th place, put that with the Carling cup, UEFA qualification and hopefully another FA cup final and I believe it will have been a good year.

I know the general concensus is that we need a goalscoring striker but I believe a winger or attacking midfielder who could chip in with some goals and we would have picked up 9 more points this season.

Yep, if we buy a top, top striker this summer then great but what happens if that player gets injured ?? We'll be back to square one again, all we really need is a better quality of player in both midfield and attack, players who can chip in with goals and create clear cut chances, it will cost a fair bit though.

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta today thanked Liverpool Football Club for the help and support he received after suffering an injury during the match at Anfield on Saturday which left him needing hospital treatment.

Arteta wrote an open letter in which he expresses thanks to the club, the players and the supporters.

                          It reads:

I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their help and friendship towards me on Saturday.

After my accident on the pitch, the Arsenal medical staff did a great job, together with everyone at Liverpool Football Club.

From Anfield, I was taken straight to the Aintree University Hospital, where they checked me, just as precaution.

Everything was fine and I was able to travel from the hospital and join up with my teammates for the train journey back to London.

I've since looked back at the TV images of when I was being taken off and just want to show my appreciation to the Liverpool fans at Anfield. It is touching to receive that response from the fans of a great club when I am leaving the pitch injured. Thank-you.

I also want to thank Pepe Reina and the Liverpool players who have sent me messages of support and friendship, this again is really touching and just shows class from a great football club.

And very importantly, a message to all the fantastic Arsenal fans, not only all those at Anfield on Saturday who were brilliant, but also those who have sent me many messages since Saturday. It is hugely appreciated. I cannot tell you how much this means to me.

It must have looked very serious to everyone as I left the pitch on a stretcher, but I'm pleased to say that I'm fine now and hope to be back on the pitch very soon.

                          Thank you everyone.

                          Mikel Arteta

                              Henderson with a flawless victory.

Nice from Arteta though, he didn't have to.

Two very good posts. Let us look at our front 6 next season if we remain the same plus goalscoring striker.

It will be Lucas + Adam + Henderson + Downing ( Not a lot of goals) plus
two strikers. There is going to be immense pressure on the two strikers to take up the bulk of the scoring. Even if Adam is replaced by Gerrard in CM I dont think Gerrard will score a lot of goals from that position.

Look at the Mancs in comparison - Rooney, Nani, Wellbeck, Hernandez, Berbatov, Young, Park - All of them have goals and creativity. They may not be Torres of 2008 or Van Persies of 2012 level goal threats but they are significantly better than ours. That is where we should aspire to.

And based on the style of play King Kenny implemented when he first joined, I think that will be the style he prefers also. It is just that our summer transfers do not reflect that style.

Somehow it appears we are building our team like a lego building block game. We have Andy Carroll - What does he need to score ? Crosses? So let us get a crosser? Downing? What does Downing need? Early through balls? So let us get Adam? We have a lot of shots hitting the post - so what do we need ? A finisher?

You really cannot get unidimensional players with one special attribute, combine them together and get a potent attack. It works very rarely.

You put Suarez, Kuyt and Maxi on the pitch close to each other and more than often you see magic start to happen. What we need is a 22-24 year old versions of Kuyt and Maxi who may not be Van Persie level finishers but can contribute atleast 10 goals per season each. Such players know how to dance, make defenders uncomfortable, pull them out of their comfort zone with their movement, technical skills, speed of thought. Thats what leads to goals. Add an intelligent striker to that mix and we have a title winning first team.
