Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."
Always, keep your face to the sun, and shadows will fall behind you.
I guess there are a number of factors in the Elliott deal: firstly it seems as the deal stands Villa have to pay a fee not to take up the option to buy, presumably they could do that at any point, now or at the end of the season not sure if there are advantages in waiting until the end of the season. Secondly if Villa initiate a return they will have to pay the fee, if Liverpool were to try and initiate a return Villa would think they could get out of paying said fee. Thirdly both us and Villa are hopefully challenging for CL spots so the might think that it's better for them to hang on to Elliott and not play him rather than let him return to us and potentially have him help us get CL place which could be at their expense.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

A few things, Elliott accepted a larger salary than his Liverpool one, Vila need to pay that off, Obviously a termination fee / loan fee needs to be sorted - Villa it seems are happy to let Harvey rot until June 2026 rather than sort, maybe a wee bit from us as well - Feel sorry for the kid TBH

I didn't know about salary increase I would have assumed he would have been on same salary as at LFC while it was a loan and would have sorted a salary that may he higher starting when he was permanently transfered. Seems a bit mad to offer higher wages while on loan than player gets at parent club.
The loan fee and/or any termination/cancel of the transfer part would already have been agreed so i doubt there is negotiation on this as it stands, I guess Villa want LFC to cancel the deal so they can get out of paying, and LFC want them to pay so it's a game of chicken. All Villa will save are his wages for 6 months which probably aren't much in grand scheme, unless LFC blink first, but I don't see that happening as I doubt Slot is desperate to have him back. Not sure how much we are talking about in fees
But yeah as you say it is the player who is the biggest loser in this situation. IMO with our squad he's probably getting at least 15mins off the bench in most games and starting FA Cup games, which may not be alot but it's more than he gets at Villa

So I was thinking about who is getting game time out of our loanees & who isn’t so feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but based on the past week here goes.
LOANS
Vitor Jaros : Ajax : season loan Has played regularly this season
Harvey Davies : Crawley : season loan played on the weekend in a struggling side
Owen Beck : Derby : season loan been injured & is returning to us apparently
Isaac Mabaya : Wigan : season loan not being used in the league
Luca Stephenson: Dundee United : season loan after signing a new contract tearing it up in Scotland, regular starter playing 90 mins each week
Lewis Koumas : Birmingham: season loan playing regularly
James McConnell : Ajax : season loan hardly used & has returned to us
Kostas Tsimikas : Roma : season loan bit part player
Harvey Elliot : Aston Villa : season loan + obligation to buy of £30m frozen out
Koumas has been regularly involved at Birmingham, he has 21 appearances but only 5 starts
Mabaya has barely played for Wigan, hasn't been in match day squads in the league since start of season
Not really looking like good moves for many of these guys

Tsimikas being used as a squad player, but by no means frozen out.
Started yesterday, and a couple of 30 minute sub appearances in the previous 2 games.

Luke Chambers off to Charlton on loan for the rest of the season. I’ll be following that. My dad grew up watching them with his brother. They also have an ex Brisbane Roar player.
