    I suspect the club is being asked to slim squad numbers by the end of the summer (to raise funds and reduce wage costs), which means doing thorough once-and-for-all assessments of (and final decisions about) players that we have talked about for a couple of years but have not yet come through. Which is probably not before time.

    Probably nonsense thinking on my part, but if it's not that then it is gross negligence to let the squad rot and the club suffer like we're doing at the moment.
    I think it depends on the timeline for a sale, if FSG are expecting to sell now, then spending money doesn't really give added value, but if nothing is going to happen before the summer and we aren't in the CL next season then I think that negatively affects the value of the club, so spending money in the hope of getting CL football probably makes sense...
