Our players out on loan

Loan deals don’t seem to work for us do they. I’m struggling to think of a player that we sent out on loan who came back to us & played successfully. Anyone else help me here ?

Danny Murphy was probably the last one who went away and came back and established himself as a first team regular. Other players such as Origi have come back and done quite well.

There are a range of youngsters who have come back from loan and been squad players, the likes of David Thompson, Stephen Warnock, Jay Spearing, Martin Kelly, Jordan Ibe, all went on to be involved in the first team squad and play more than 50 games each for us after going out on loan, ultimately they didn't make it here long term but they were useful squad players for a while so it depends on your definition of success.

I think that there is an inherent bias in the players that are sent out on loan. The guys that you are confident will make it (Gerrard, Owen, Fowler, TAA etc) don't need to go out on loan, the players who aren't going to make it are shipped out before they get the opportunity. The youngsters who are loaned out are mostly in the 'maybe' category and statistically most of those aren't going to make it with us but will probably end up having decent careers elsewhere

Wilson seems - juydging from afar I'll accept - to be viewed by Bournemouth as a bit of a luxury player (ie someone to be sacrificed if things need tightening up). My assumption as a resukt is that he probably disappears and isn't strong defensively.

On the other hand, Brewster has done well.

I can't say as I've barely seen him this season but I remember klopp mentioning his overall gameplay outside of his set piece taking needed to improve

Not sure if he will get the same space in the PL, but Id like to ser him play in a full strength side. I think both he and Wilson have earnt a chance to be part of the squad next year.

Be a shame if we sold either without giving them a chance.

I know Wilson has got some stick from some on here but he has 7 PL goals this season in team in the bottom 3, hopefully he would do better with better players around him.

What about the rest of his game, does he do much running and chasing when they dont have the ball, or is he just a hoal hanger.
