Yeah, none of us know anything so lets not talk about it
it usually works the other way though doesnt it, we speculate due to lack of an insight, rather than just killing ideas because we assume we know the out come.
Depends on what you call bleating about it - people are going ape**** about why we lost and for me, the defining reason was the referee making a game-defining wrong decision.
For some reason, Liverpool fans prefer to vent their fury at Kenny, rather than Atkinson.
OK, you're going on about what would have happened in the game IF the penalty had been scored and we had a man advantage.
Well lets look at another scenario. What IF we go behind next week. We'll still have hardly any invention, creativity, goalscoring threat. No substitution till 75 minutes when 2-0 down? Poor decisions and poor players cost us today.
IF the defending had been batter Newcaslt might not have taken the lead. IF Liverpool were better they could have equalised before the offside. IF the defending was better Newcastle might not have very nearly gone 2-0 up in the second minute of the second half.
All of these IF's did not happen. Crap officiating might have contributed to the deafeat but it doesnt excuse a crap performance from the team.
If they have no backbone to come back from being 1-0 down then they aint good enough and no amount of criticising refs will ever change that. EVER.
No guarantees Buzzo, but our problems stem from when something goes wrong - eg, we go behind and heads drop. When we're ahead, we're a different kettle of fish. So taking into account going 1-0 up, the boost in confidence AND the fact that we'd have been playing against 10, it's fair to say we'd have been far more likely to win the game than not.
QPR 3 Liverpool 2 ..... and we were two up against 10 men with 13 mins to go...
A situation largely created by Atkinson's failure to apply the rules.
We're in freefall ffs. Referees aren't going to stop the rot. If we had been turning things around in the last few games maybe then the sense of grievance would be more justifiable. We've just been beaten by a team way ahead of us in the league. They're better than us and we lost. End of.

What about Carroll's failure to be a ****ing striker? Some things are out of our control.... like ****ty refs. But ****ty players and decisions are well within our control.

Aaaarrrggghhh - I don't think you've made this point in this thread
I think the point is that the problems are there for all to see they existed before this pen incident. They existed sure as **** after it. This one issue is not seeing the wood for the trees. We have lost 6 out of 7 games and that isn't Martin Atkinsons's fault.
