Something needs to change and this is beyond disappointing.
Flanagan at fault in the build up to the Villa goal. Easily beaten to the ball by Warnock.

Agree though, a totally insipid lifeless display, if we have given up on the league I'd rather see some more of the kids get a game than this sorry lot.

Worst run I can remember as a supporter. Cup runs have made a disasterous season where we invested heavily look acceptable.

with carroll as a focal point, you go a little more direct. we just need a win from somewhere. an ugly win will do. you don't try out passing the other team off the park in our current predicament.

Gerrard off Suarez isn't working, because Suarez drops in to the same space.

A Shelvey, Henderson axis doesn't work - it's not balanced, it's not competitive and both are too similar; Shelvey's want to get forward and positional naivety is leaving Henderson isolated.

Our inability to press the ball is making Villa look decent, Heskey dangerous and Ireland a world beater.

For the goal, the delivery could (maybe should) have been stopped, Doni needed a firmer hand and a midfielder - Henderson going by position - should have picked up their goalscorer. Will need to see a replay.

Our biggest problem is our zero threat upfront and we're reliant on Kuyt darting from the right flank to get in to the box.

People make far too many excuses for our misses

We have missed far too many easy chances this season that decent forwards would finish comfortably

That was a classic example of our finishing prowess this season

Meh, this season is obviously cursed or something. Its the Illuminati I tell you

We have been **** in parts, but despite that we really haven't been getting breaks. Its not tactics, formations or even personel who make players blaze over from a yard out when it is seriously easier to score. Ultimately we can't blame luck, I know that, but also we really haven't had any at all this season. Horrid.

That is really not our problem.

Carroll may make a focal point, but he is so poor positionally and poor on the ball it'd probably make us even more sterile.

The sad thing is, we are going to have to rebuild again this summer.

Carroll is not the answer as he falls on his arse at the sight of an open goal.

you laugh but it clearly isn't working right now. if you're a manager, you'd try anything to get a result. carroll and suarez hasn't worked, neither has dirk & ls, gerrard & ls isn't working, so you try something.

Thankfully we have two centre backs on the bench who can turn things around
                            We come not to play.

Not sure we can really blame him alone it was series of errors that led to their goal.

Doni should have dealt with the cross better, Skrtel should pressed Bannan better, Hendo and/or Jonjo should have been back to help back 4 as Herd bypassed them to get to the box etc.

To me it was collective failure.

I don't think last summer can really be called rebuilding.
