:duh: I have only just returned to this thread again, as I have been busy at work. I offer my sincere apologies for overlooking your rather excellent and well thought out post.
Mine had superior wording too.
But then, the only Icelandic I ever encountered was in your middle-age sagas & that was 15+ years ago & I always cheated & used the translations.
I've seen lots of comments in relation to Carra's wife now... what's this about?
Just a little cheeky dig at Carra after his comments about it being nice us signing British players as it was easier for his wife to strike up conversation with them over dinner without needing to learn Spanish/French etc
You call it nonsense I call it near as damn it fact.
I don't claim to be an ITK, I know what I was told and who told me it and I know where it originated from.
It's not a chinese whisper that has gathered a life of it's own, there was a dinner between 2 people, 1 of those present was involved in the deal from the Sunderland end, the other one present told my mate who told me.
By involved in the deal I mean decision making involved, yes or no involved, signing paperwork involved.
To me it's cast iron fact, if you think it's nonsense then that's fair enough

"We've got a great togetherness about the squad, there's a lot of British players there now," Jamie Carragher said last October. "We went for a meal out before the derby and it was interesting that my wife could actually talk to some of the other wives without having to think of something in Spanish or French or something different. I think that will be a great thing for us this season."
