He has very strong views about how he wants the clube to be run and that type of approach (very little compromise, not listening to others point of view etc.) seems to alienate people where-ever he goes

I think DOF should be some one low key. Some one like Monchi at Sevilla or the person at Udinese/ Villareal. The manager should be the face of the club - not the DOF.

For me a director of football should be in the background which is why I prefer Tixi because not only is he good at his job, you don't need to worry about him intefering with things. With big names like Van Gaal and Cruyff I worry about them wanting to do too much and possibly undermining the manager.
