I agree, league position does describe the strength of the team. But there isn't any chance we'll get fourth. The only thing to play for is bragging rights over Everton.Originally posted by danperkins View PostThe league position doesn't lie, it is a barometer of how well a club is doing.
For potential managers & players, i don't think they'll be jumping at the chance to join a club that finishes 10th in the league, regardless of the brand. A strong league finish & a cup win IMO is vital.
I'm not so concerned over your last para. LFC is still a massive club with a good reputation, sure there could be better offers elsewhere, but those teams have only so many places in their squads.

7th or 13th it doesnt matter a jot when attracting a player/manager where we finish this season.Originally posted by danperkins View PostThe league position doesn't lie, it is a barometer of how well a club is doing.

What will matter is how deep FSG's pockets are and whether they are serious about turning us into future champions. If they are serious I am sure there will be plenty of decent players or managers interested_____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?
Think we have the answer..Slot!!

Cisse, Ba, Tiote and Cabaye combined cost the same amount as Stewart Downing.
The myth that clubs not in the CL can't buy quality players has hopefully been comprehensively exposed for the lie that it is by Newcastle's exploits this season. That myth was never more than an attempt to rationalise/excuse Dalglish's woeful purchases (Downing, Henderson, Adam and Carroll).
Also the arguement that you need a big net spend to get CL football is another myth created to defend Dalglish. For example over the last 6 years Arsenal's combined net spend is lower than any team in the PL and that includes Swansea and Norwich and yet they have managed to qualify for the CL year in year out.

Wages should be included when factoring in ANY comparisons between the cost value of playersOriginally posted by ~LFCHistory~ View Post

Downing is ****e we never should have bought him
Thats enough of an argument there without embellishing and diluting your argumentBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

He was also responsible for some of our best chance creation for other players. Sorry but blaming him for losing us games is plain stupid.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostI've been supportive of Luis this season. I love him to bits but his moaning doesn't help. Some situations when he could show awareness after putting himself into great positions, he just is too selfish. Agger went ballistic at him on one occasion. He tried to score in an impossible angle. Sorry, but he loses us games.
What about our midfield that don't score goals? In fact they often don't get into the box. Carroll doesn't score enough either.
Blaming Suarez is crazy.Last edited by Mattshark; 22-04-12, 10:59 PM.

It's ****ing insane. I've been watching football for over 25 years and i've seen nothing like it. I'm sure there'll be those who have been watching for half a century and not seen the likes of this before.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostSame story, we create loads and can't score. Our attackers are not goalscorers, simple as that. Out of the amount of chances we create, this is incredible. I've never seen this before.
Need the season to end and everyone to forget this - it's psychological now.

Twenty eight shots is double the number Everton had against Man Utd and they scored 4 goals, while we scored none
Another frustrating thing is I can't even recall Ben Foster making any good saves.Last edited by Exiled_red; 22-04-12, 10:57 PM.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

* I nearly said 36 years worth of experience but I would have sounded too much like RoyBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Be honest Lec, you are obviously advocating that. With all the criticism you've given Suarez this season, it's obvious you want him sold and think we'd be better off doing that. I dont agree, but if you think that it's entirely your perogative. Just dont get why you say otherwise.Originally posted by Lecter View PostSometimes you have to sell a class player to improve your team
Not advocating doing that myself but its one view to have

Honestly cant get my head around that. How can a trophy not be a sign of success?Originally posted by Shanks View PostI see what he is saying but unless it's the Prem, or the CL, a trophy is not a sign of success now..(For LFC)
The league campaign has been a real letdown, but in the Cups we've been practically perfect. If we beat Chelsea, we'll have been perfect in the Cups.
How could two cups in one season not be a sign of success?
This thing about 'unless it's the PL or the CL it's not worth it' - ****ing really???
How spoilt does that sound?? And before this season, we hadnt been spoilt with trophies for more than half a decade.
Completely cant get my head around it.
