Excellent performance with slick passing and high tempo.

There wasn't any pressure though and look what happened. We ripped them apart.

I think it was a case of we were great and Chelsea were poor. The big positive was Carroll and Suarez.

Shelvey quickly improving and emerging as the long term replacement for Gerrard is a positive for next season. Lucas and Kelly coming back is something to look forward to. Defence is reasonably settled, goalie will improve with results. I can't see Suarez not continuing in the same way, which is great, and Carroll is improving game after game. Sterling's actually going to get a crack at it, Henderson is young and, contrary to popular belief, he is growing slowly. Downing has been unlucky to a degree, he can only improve. Agger is now showing signs of not being as injury prone. Coates has settled quite quickly and looks happy with his role.

On the negative side. Gerrard and Bellamy will be a little bit older, Pepe could decide he wants to go, left back isn't completely sorted. Lucas may not return the same player that he was, Kuyt & Maxi are off.

A decent back-up forward, a left back and someone to operate on the right side of midfield would be the progress needed to start building. All last year's signings, barring Adam, will improve IMO

I cannot see Downing improving. He's too soft.

To be fair tho Norbs, all that plus an extra £10m only represents 1 formerly-****-hot-now-utter-wank Spanish striker.
            3rd place. Worst champions ever.

I think we shouldn't get too carried away with last night's result as Chavski put in one of their worst performances I've seen in the Abramovic era and they should've had 2 more goals themselves (struck the post & Lukaku) & the goal we did concede should be reserved for amateur football!
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I'd be surprised if someone from Wales got in the England squad

Anyone got an idea if Suarez could play for Uruguay? Hope not, he has played a lot of games since the WC.
I read somewhere last week that he could be because Uraguay take the Olympics as seriously as the World Cup, and that Coates would almost certainly be involved.

Speaking of Suarez, BBC are suggesting that the FA will investigate the Suarez-Ivanovic incident and that Suarez might get a retrospective ban

So let them also investigate Ivanovic's assault on Carrol...

They can't because Ivanovic's foul was spotted by the referee and a foul was awarded (and a yellow card?) similarly Essien's foul that should clearly have been a red, can't be changed because he was booked at the time. The Suarez-Ivanovic incident is different, the referee gave a goal kick, so didn't deal with it.
